I could have translated this page, but I decided not to put the effort into it because I didn't think it was notable enough, and I wanted to wait the full two weeks for it to have its day in Articles for Deletion. Now that you've given a rough translation, I might bring it into AfD a little early with your permission. I should have said something earlier before you put this kind of effort into it (I've done several Portuguese translations already, as you can see on my user page.) If it survives AfD I'll check your work against the original Portuguese. You can respond here or on my talk page.

Again, sorry. Grandmasterka 20:27, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Articles for translation

To be honest, all I know is its in a foreign language that I think is Spanish or Portuguese. Let me know if you can translate it or if it is rubbish and requires deletion.--File Éireann 17:52, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Translations

It's great that you are interested in translating. I am as well and it helps me pick up a language like Portuguese, which I can read but can't really reproduce yet (I'm a Spanish speaker also.) I recommend looking for redlinks in the English wikipedia that are likely to have articles in another wikipedia. This can be done through lists or subject-specific articles. (For example: I looked in List of political parties in Peru and found Sí Cumple, which I translated.) Since you're a French speaker as well, I recommend taking a look at Vichy, a page I did a little work on. Right now, it's in really bad shape, but of course the French wikipedia has a stellar article. Look for interwiki links on the left side of a page for links to the article in other languages, and add these yourself when you're done translating from another wikipedia. (So adding [[fr:Vichy]] in the Vichy article provides an interwiki link to the french article for Vichy.)

A word of warning -- make sure that you've searched for every possible name an article could be under before you begin translating. And try to add any redirects for alternate spellings/mistakes people may make in searching for your article, or for other articles whose idiot authors haven't created enough redirects.

I know that was really long. Ask if you have any questions. Grandmasterka 19:19, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Renewable Energy in Germany Translation from Spanish

Hi, I'm writing this note because I noticed you have done a lot of edits to Renewable energy in Germany. I was interested in doing the translation of the (more complete) article from Spanish, but saw in the Wikipedia:Translation/Renewable energy in Germany Request for Translation that Icehcky8 started to do the translation. However the status bar indicated '0'. I was wondering if Icehcky8 had completed it and relevant sections were shifted to other articles. If it has been finished, perhaps you could drop me a note at my userpage. Otherwise I may assume it hasn't been finished and I may start to try to figure out what has already been done and go from there. However, a note either way would be very helpfull. Thank you very much. AnFu 18:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi and thanks for making contact. Your Spanish translation idea sounds good...

Looking at List of renewable energy topics by country, there are three main articles associated with renewable energy in Germany, but I don't think any have been translated from other languages. And I know of no associated translation work which is underway.

As you know, there is much happening with solar thermal energy in Spain (see List of solar thermal power stations) and I imagine there are articles in Spanish about these. Would there be any benefit in translating some of this info, if you have time? regards, Johnfos 20:46, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your prompt reply and for the suggestions for future translation. I will check them out. More specifically, I had wondered if this article in Spanish in the Spanish Wikipedia http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energías_renovables_en_Alemania had been translated into the English article Renewable energy in Germany. There's a lot of info in the Spanish article that isn't in the English article, especially regarding governmental policy and biofuels. Thanks for your response that you haven't noticed any translation activity. Thanks Again. [p.s. You may just reply here for your convenience: i have this page on my watchlist. I hope that will make it easier for you. Later I will copy this section to my userpage.] AnFu 21:31, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. I haven't logged into Wikipedia in quite some time. Feel free to take the project over (if you haven't already). If you need any help though, I'd be glad to assist. Good luck. Icehcky8 (talk) 01:31, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

No prob. It seemed like the logical thing to do; I think we're far too tolerant of vandalism in general. See ya, Kaisershatner (talk) 15:17, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
