Anenii Noi is a city in east-central Moldova, the seat of the Anenii Noi district, Moldova. It is located 36 km SE of the capital Chişinău. The city administers an area inhabited by 11,463 people, of which 6,324 ethnic Romanians, 2,721 ethnic Ukrainians, 1,923 ethnic Russians, 68 Gagauzians, 178 Bulgarians, 7 Jews, 11 Poles, 46 Gypsies, and 185 others/undeclared, according to the 2004 Moldovan Census.[citation needed] This area consists of the city itself, population 8,358, and five suburb villages Albiniţa, population 370, Beriozchi, population 647, Hîrbovăţul Nou, population 484, Ruseni, population 1,090, and Socoleni, population 514.
