[edit] Singapore

Hi. You put a template on my page that said that my contribution is POV. A dictatorship is a form of government, and saying that a nation is a dictatorship is no worse than claiming a nation is a democracy or any other form of government. I really don't see the problem. --//Mac Lover TalkC 00:03, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] The article developed country

Hello.

Have you got any idea how to cope with Leungli's (i.e. Coloane's) continuous deletion of my three footnotes about Slovenia, Macau, and Cyprus?

e.g. my continuously deleted footnote about Macau - supplies all international sources, as well as chinese sources, but he insists to base the article on a (single) chinese source only, thus deleting all of the other international sources supplied in my footnote, such as the UNCTAD organisation of the UN, as well as the CIA.

A similiar problem exists with my continuously deleted footnotes about Cyprus and Slovenia.

Oh, I see. Sorry,it was an accident. I must have hit something when I was editing.

[edit] User:Good batch

Hi, Andrew pmk. I noticed you just welcomed Good batch (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log). I wanted to make you aware he's a sockpuppet of hardbanned user SummerThunder. See Wikipedia:Long term abuse/SummerThunder and Wikipedia:List of banned users#SummerThunder. szyslak 10:38, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

(edit conflict) SummerThunder's M.O. is so obvious a checkuser isn't necessary. He targets an extremely specific group of articles, reposts a deleted article about the mascot of the University of California, Riverside and makes reference to mental disorders, especially OCD, in his edit summaries. Comparing Good batch's edits to the pattern outlined in the LTA subpage makes it clear. As for the quality of his edits, what matters is that he's banned, and banned means banned. The sock has now been blocked. szyslak 10:47, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Commerce Bank Park "Trivia"

I noticed you made an edit to take out a trivia section on the page. Most of it is not trivia, but stuff about the park. If you do want to help me out in finding a way to put the info in the page without making it look like a trivia section though, im more than willing to listen, and maybe ask for a little help in getting that done. Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 10:44, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Ok, that sounds good to me. I would at least keep ticket prices at least for the time being unless something is found out if it isnt encyclopedic. Ok if the batting practice part is kept in a shortened form as well?Whammies Were Here (PYLrulz) 10:50, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Quidditch

If Quidditch is a fictional game why is there a whole section on people trying to play it in real life. There is nothing wrong with pointing out flaws in the game, and many people actually believe that Quidditch could be played. That was a legitimate article, as legitimate as the history of a fictional game.--Deansherr 02:13, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Washita

I am the author of a book on the Battle of the Washita and the owner of a website http://www.custerwest.org dedicated to the study of the Battle with books and historians welcomed as members. I was working on the article of the Battle of the Washita with footnotes and original sources when HanzoHattori erased my whole work with a single website and things full of nonsense, like putting the Washita campaign against the Cheyenne in the "Commanche campaign". Read my website if you want to have primary source. And let me work correctly on this page with footnotes by books and original quotes. It's an encyclopedia, right? [edit] Tom DeLay related

Hey there,

An anon IP was trying to reduce the clutter on the Tom DeLay page by shifting content over to other pages. In the process, I ended up reverting his edits. A resultant discussion on the talk page of the article showed his intention of helping the article, not harming it. I don't know much about the article, if you have more knowledge about it I'd like to request you to have a look and see whether the edits were alright or not.

Thanks in advance,xC | 07:06, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox removal

Why did you remove the infobox from Mensa International? Andrew_pmk | Talk 23:51, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Because to be an infobox it has to be informative, and this one does nothing but add a huge ugly frame around it and a piece of text already in lead. Infoboxes just for the sake of infoboxes are awful, and the guy putting it back was blind reverting to an old version of the page and wiping out any changes made in the meantime. Until there's actual reason to have an infobox or there's a consensus of people who want it, there's no justification for it whatsoever.DreamGuy 23:56, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out at Mensa. It's always nice to have an uninvolved third party help resolve these issues. The Parsnip! 00:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Vexel

Hello, it was my intention to remove the content as it was not at all accurate as described in the talk page. Is there a better way to have this information removed? RicoBlox 06:01, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry if it seemed disruptive. I wasn't trying to vandalize the page, only to place accurate information. It is in fact an article about a neologism and as I read in Wikipedia:Avoid neologisms they are inappropriate for wikipedia. The part that mainly concerns this article is:

* The first is that Wikipedia is not a dictionary, and so articles simply attempting to define a neologism are inappropriate. * The second reason is that articles on neologisms frequently attempt to track the emergence and use of the term as observed in communities of interest or on the internet—without attributing these claims to reliable secondary sources. If the article is not verifiable (see Reliable sources for neologisms, below) then it constitutes analysis, synthesis and original research and consequently cannot be accepted by Wikipedia. This is true even though there may be many examples of the term in use. In many cases, articles on neologisms get deleted (either via proposed deletion or articles for deletion). Articles on protologisms are almost always deleted as these articles are often created in an attempt to use Wikipedia to increase usage of the term.

It is attempting to use wikipedia to increase usage of the term. It is also trying to track the emergence and use of the term in communities of interest, namely the vexels.net website. In fact all external links in this article refer to vexels.net. Although may someone may want to read the article it is useless because it is innacurate and more of an advertisement than anything else. What would be the best way to have this article deleted. Thanks, RicoBlox 06:23, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

No one makes any comments on the discussion page or has objected to the modifications so instead of removing 99.9% of the info (even though it should be) I will just remove all unsourced and POV material. oops forgot to sign RicoBlox 07:20, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
And after a futile attempt, the article is impossible to save. It is ALL unsourced and not based on facts. I would propose the article for deletion but do not know how. RicoBlox 07:26, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Mistaken identity

There seems to have been a case of mistaken identity. On the article Shelley Shannon, the editor who repeatedly inserted the "pro-life activist" description was User:64.85.245.43, not me, as you suggested on my talk page (see diffs: diff 1, diff 2, diff 3, diff 4). Also, the first edit that the anon made to the Shannon article was to replace the term "American terrorist" with "hero" (see diff), which, in my opinion, is a pretty clear-cut breach of neutrality. -Severa (!!!) 04:38, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] flying checkpoint

My edits have been fully explained on the Talk page. Please participate in that discussion rather than filling my Talk page with warnings Isarig 01:48, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

I accept your apology, but I don't believe my edit summary was disruptive. I have warned that user before to stop using bogus allegations of vandalism. As I am sure you know, WP:VANDALISM clearly states that "significant content removals are usually not considered to be vandalism where the reason for the removal of the content is readily apparent by examination of the content itself, or where a non-frivolous explanation for the removal of apparently legitimate content is provided, linked to, or referenced in an edit summary." Such explanations have been given, many times over, on the Talk page, and have been supported by other editors (User: Shuki, User:Tewfik). Falsely accusing editors of "vandalism" over a content dispute is a serious breach of WP:CIVIL and WP:AGF, and has been going on for far too long by User:Taimut. Isarig

[edit] AIV report

Thank you for making a report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. In this case, the issue was that 12.153.34.80 hadn't gotten any recent warnings, and it's unclear whether this is the same person using that IP address as before. I just gave a warning for today. Thanks.--Chaser - T 03:35, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Billava and Koti and Chennayya article- Vandalism and threatening with wikipedia template

Hi i have been contributing to Billava and Koti and Chennayya article for sometime. And i only created the article Koti and Chennayya. I have added following content

"The Tulu term Garadi is derived from Kannada word Garodi which means gymnasium."

from the link

http://www.billawabalagadubai.com/J1010/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=34&Itemid=32

But this has been changed by the user:User:Gnanapiti tactically. He has reverted this edits by multiple times. So as warning i have added a edit summary "Stop vandalism. Dont remove referenced content. if you conflicting opinion. please discuss it" to both the articles when i made last edit.

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Billava&action=history

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Koti_and_Chennayya&action=history

He again reverted this edit with following edit summary "What's wrong with you? I'm removing anything. I'm just fiuxing the reference format for god's sake. This is the way you reference something. Not by giving external link. Do you even check the diff?"

But he tactically removed following content. "The Tulu term Garadi is derived from..."

He has removed many refernced content from Billava article also. Then i explicitly provided the extenral ref.

Now he has been kept threatening template in talk page -- a personal attack template.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Dayaanjali

have i done some personal attack by providing the edit summary as mentioned earlier? Also please help me to maintain the article with authenticated content as the user is removing t5he content with any discussion....please keep an eye on both the artciles

I am making request to as i am not aware who are admins...

[edit] The Crying Game

Hi, you seem to have identified one of my edits as vandalism [2]. Just to let you know that it wasn't. My edit was a revert of a removal of a longstanding sentence from the article lead. --Tony Sidaway 06:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Indeed. Spurious tagging of edits as "vandalism" is a personal attack. Don't do this. - David Gerard 09:07, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Furthermore, using automated rollback tools in content disputes is just a bad idea. Don't do it. Phil Sandifer 13:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
I think you're both jumping to conclusions. Andrew pmk has never edited the article or its talk page before, and at least recently seems to have a pattern of reverting vandalism that suggests he patrols recent changes. This was almost certainly simply a case of misidentification of a bona fide edit as vandalism. --Tony Sidaway 13:51, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Krekrakro.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Krekrakro.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 23:02, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Project_Gotham_Racing_Front_Only.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Project_Gotham_Racing_Front_Only.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Seraphim Whipp 16:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Subversion.png

Thanks for uploading Image:Subversion.png.

Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:26, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Here you go

The Graphic Designer's Barnstar
I award this barnstar to Andrew pmk for the illustrations he created on Signals on the TTC. OhanaUnitedTalk page 07:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Are you employed in TTC or drive the subway? Cause outsiders definitely won't know all the different kinds of signals mean, especially the absurd ones like call-on override signal. OhanaUnitedTalk page 07:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Ludwig.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Ludwig.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. NotifyBot (talk) 12:30, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
