[edit] Dead department stores

Hi - any reason to remove Williams & Cox as opposed to other ones? Regards --Nigel (Talk) 07:28, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

I found out that Williams & Cox became Bobbys store in Torquay (taken over by Debenhams). It therefore doesn't fit into that list. AndrewSE19 17:11, 4 October 2006

Williams & Cox remained so till it closed its doors (there was a Bobby's taken over by Debs, seperate business, seperate building) therefore it is a valid as many of the others --Nigel (Talk) 10:30, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Can you tell me from where you know Williams & Cox to be a separate store? AndrewSE19 07:21, 6 October 2006

Firstly the kind words were appreciated. I may look back at pages that really interest me! For better or worse UK retailing and department stores I know a little about.
So W&C. Well I lived about five miles away from W&C when they closed (tho see below). I still work with an ex employee, I'd met some of the directors and I was involved with an organisation that tried putting in a bid for the business. Bobby's (in the shape of Debs) is still there about 50 yards from what was W&C. However W&C was actually taken over by Hoopers - can't remember if there is an entry for them (may look later). Hope this helps, your contributions are of a high quality too (I'm guessing involvement somewhere) & all the best --80.189.232.84 11:27, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
