[edit] Images of Romanian towns' coats of arms
Please be aware that unless you're able to demonstrate that the images you uploaded are public domain or their creator licenses them for use here, they will be deleted. Since we need those coats of arms, please proceed accordingly. Best of luck and Bine ai venit, romane ;), Dunemaire 16:54, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- The copyrights of Coat of arms are usually not enforceable under American law, so it's ok to upload them. However, Andrei, it would be better to tag them as {{coatofarms}}. (BTW, Welcome to Wikipedia!)bogdan 17:41, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- I see you started to replace the copyright tags with those recommended by Bogdan - Good job. For the record, where did you find them on the web? Dunemaire 18:54, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- They're in my collection. Some of them I found on the ICI website (www.ici.ro, more precisely [1]). Others, I got them from [2] (but just a few and not very accurate - he has them scanned from Maria Dogaru's Heraldica Romaniei). Some I have from [3] (but again, very few are usable due to inaccuracy). Others I took them from the mayor's office website from each city and then edited them so they are a little clearer. Some I don't even remember where I found them. I have some more, but since I changed the template for the Romanian towns, the top priority was adding the ones for the towns whose pages are using that template, so it doesn't look ugly. In the next few weeks I will try and cleanup my work and add some more contributions. Andrei Stroe 19:10, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- As far as I recall, coats of arm are not copyrighted in Romania, hence they can't be anywhere else. Most of them wree creating in the Commnist years and they were in the public domain (it was Communism, right?), and the older ones are out of any jurisdiction by now. You did a great job.--Luci_Sandor (talk, contribs) 19:32, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
- Wouldn't it be nice to have a copyright tag that says this?(the "communist years creation = public domain") It would save a lot of trouble. Dunemaire 20:45, 29 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Coa_deva_ro.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Coa_deva_ro.gif. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. --OrphanBot 03:25, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Be careful !
Bai, fi atent, ca dobitocii astia vor sa ne stearga tag-urile care spun ca suntem in favoarea unificarii Romania-Moldova, pentru ca vasazaica sunt "polemice si inflamatorii" ! Gimme a friggin' break ! Sa nu cumva sa-i lasi sa-ti modifice pagina, daca it-i vor scoate elemente din, ea, sa le pui la loc. Am sa transmit mesajul si la ceilalti Romani. Bafta. -Voievod 18:27, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Template Romanian Coat of Arms
Salut Andrei,
I've looked around and seen that according tot the Romanian law, the coat of arms of public authorities cannot be copyrighted. Acordingly, We've created a copyright template which says that, and I would like to ask you to use it for the CoA you've uploaded. It is this one Template:PD-RomaniaGov and there is a link tot the law which says that. Good Luck. Mihai -talk 13:15, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
- Excellent, I've just seen that.Andrei Stroe 13:18, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Check my reply to you on Ro wiki notice board and tell me if you can take those photos, and if so, when. Thx. --Candide, or Optimism 17:10, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion
I noticed that you tagged the page Image:Coa slatina ro.gif for speedy deletion with the reason "Better version available on commons: Image:Coa_Slatina_RO.gif". However, "Better version available on commons: Image:Coa_Slatina_RO.gif" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use WP:IFD if you still want the article to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle 23:59, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Coa_focsani_ro.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Coa_focsani_ro.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

[edit] Kindly approve the deletion of your entry for Slanic's official website
Andrei, I hope you will approve of my deleting that entry of yours.
As much as I would like the town to have an official website, I am afraid www.slanic.ro is not that. It seems to me that it's only an interface to sell as many admissions to the Lake (Baia Baciului) by the local concession company as possible (also, the suggested contact is by cell phone, no name nor address is given, etc).
I acknowledge that there is plenty of interesting information on that website, but still not enough (or at least not structured in the proper way) to justify it qualifying for the 'official' title.
I am sure that this situation will improve soon, thanks to the increasingly generous public contribution, at least in the wiki domain.
Thank you much, and best of luck. Ilav. Ilavuscaen 16:31, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

- Buna,
Dapiks 23:33, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for helping out with Romanian translations. As a test measure, a few articles have been created at the Romanian wikipedia. See [5]. --Soman 16:37, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Romanian leu
I am hoping to expand the List of circulating currencies page and so I was wondering if you could tell me what the common symbol for the Romanian leu. Just like how “$” means dollar, “€” means euro and “Fr” means franc. – Zntrip 02:16, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stuff
Hi, Andrei. I'm not sure if you have seen my comment here, so I'm posting it on this page as well. Thank you. Dahn 13:15, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi again. I see your point, and your project is laudable. However, this is one of the things I was going to look into next. This raises two issues: one is that we may both be working on it at the same time, which means that it may not be possible to use your version as a template for expansion (or, if so, only partially); also, I am working towards citing each statement made in the final article, and maybe restructuring it altogether based on what sources say (which, in turn, means that, in their final versions, the texts may only coincide very little). See his son for a comparison. I certainly don't want to to seem like I'm patronizing or discouraging you: if you still want to work on the translation, I can only commend your input. The only thing is this unexpected coincidence. If you should want instead to contribute to the other project, in any way you should consider necessary, and whenever you have the time or the interest, I would be delighted. So, it's entirely your decision. Cheers, Dahn 10:46, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Great! Glad to have you on board. I'll pile up my sources and either sandbox it on one of my pages or, if you allow me to, use your sandbox. What I have done in another such project is to use the {{inuse}} template as a means to avoid edit conflicts, and that way we can all edit in turns. I have some major edits in mind, since I gathered a lot of sources over the last weeks, but I'll try not to hog it. I'll start something at the vary latest on Monday, and I'm looking forward to any contributions, comments, or questions. Dahn 20:00, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi again, and sorry for the delays (connection problems account for most of them). I've sandboxed it here, and am looking forward to any form of feedback. Regards, and keep up the good work. Dahn 19:40, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I noticed you edited in the article - where Bonaparte has copypasted my sandbox in what was a first move to delete it (yes, he must be a moron). In any case: I encourage you to edit the actual sandbox, if you should feel like it, so we get all of this in one place before we move it back there. Dahn 12:03, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi again. I did some redlink filling for a related article. It seems to have much to do with Buzău, so it may interest you, and you could perhaps use it/link to it in other articles. And, btw, I'm just discovering the photos you took of the city, and, judging by them, it is a very nice town. Having never visited it, I had this prejudice about it being all concrete and factories. I owe it an apology. Dahn 23:29, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] This you might find intriguing
Hello again, Andrei. I was adding some info to Islam in Romania, and I bumped into something you might find interesting. In the "History" part, under "Early presence", in the fragment about the supposed tomb of Sarı Saltuk. I don't of course expect that tidbit to be anything other than pure legend, and neither does the source, which only lists these alternatives as proofs of a very bizarre tradition. But the very legend may be worthy of a mention somewhere in the respective article. Cheers, Dahn (talk) 23:52, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
