[edit] Apropos the above
I have also noticed your adding links to your own site, which carries advertising and from which users can order products related to the interview subjects. This is in addition to the conflict of interest issue noted above. Also, your formatting is contrary to WP:CITE, and singles out our site self-promotionally. I concur with the editor above, and asking you to please halt. While the occasional self-link might or might not be harmless, the wholesale linking to your own site violates Wikipedia guidelines and spirit. Thank you for understanding. --Tenebrae 03:00, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- Please note that three editors (User:Mhking, User:Vgranucci, and User:Salamurai, that last in April) besides Chris Cunningham and myself, have joined the consensus, having deleted one of this series of links, citing linkspam or self-promotion. In fact, from looking at User:Andelman's contributions, it appears that the only edits he has made to Wikipedia are to promote either his book or his website. --Tenebrae 03:24, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Understood. I held off making any additions after the original note. It's not my intention to upset the Wiki rules or intent. But then I noticed a number of listings for TV.com, which didn't seem much different than what I posted, so I went with their style. I have also noticed that a large number of external Wikipedia links go to pages with ads these days; hard to imagine how you can get quality content links without them these days. I would also point out that the links I have added have been strong and deep in content related to the topics, offering unique additional resources. I will discontinue posting links back to Mr. Media, but it does feel like you're singling me out over bureacracy rather than content, which is unfortunate when so many of the external sites on these same pages are far less content-oriented than Mr. Media. But I will respect your directions. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andelman (talk • contribs)
