With the increasing frequency of claimed Yeti sightings in the 1950s, the Cryptid known as the Yeti increasingly became a figure in popular culture.

  • 1954: An expedition in the Himalayas captures a Yeti and brings it to Los Angeles in the film "The Snow Creature".[1]
  • 1955: The film "Jû jin yuki otoko" (Beast Man Snow Man) features a Yeti on Mount Fuji.[2]
  • 2001: The Disney/Pixar film Monsters, Inc. featured an abominable snowman voiced by John Ratzenberger. This yeti is a friendly, cheerful monster who has been banished from Monstropolis to the human world. He resembles the yeti from Rankin-Bass's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (see Television and radio below). the character complains about his nickname of 'The Abominable Snowman', offering instead 'The Adorable Snowman', or at least 'The Agreeable Snowman!'.
  • 2001: The movie Monkeybone had a yeti that worked at the Morpheum Theatre in Downtown.
  • 2005: In the remake of King Kong, Lumpy the Cook mistakes one of Kong's footprints for that of the Abominable Snowman.
  • 2006: In the movie Cars, there is a minor reference to a character named The Abominable Snowplow as parody car version of the character in Monster's Inc. another Disney/Pixar film.
  • 2007: The movie TMNT features a variety of creatures and monsters that are unleashed upon the world when a warrior king opened a portal to another dimension centuries ago that only occurs once every 3000 years. One of them is implied to be the Yeti (this is also confirmed in the game based on the movie).

  • 1955: In the fifth series of British radio comedy the Goon Show, the plot of episode 24, "Yehti," is woven around the quest for a yeti on the Yorkshire Moors.[3]
  • 1961, 1980: Mel Blanc was the voice of Hugo, the bumbling, lovelorn Abominable Snowman in the Warner Brothers cartoons "The Abominable Snow Rabbit" and "Bugs Bunny's Bustin' Out All Over".[4]
  • 1965: A Yeti is featured in the 1965 Jonny Quest episode "Monster in the Monastery".
  • 1975: The Yeti appears as a supposed villain in a Spider-Man episode on Sesame Workshop's The Electric Company entitled Spidey Meets the Yeti; actually, he is portrayed as sitting on cold objects to assuage his homesickness for the frozen North. Eventually Spidey nabs him and agrees to take him back to his home.
  • 1982: The Yeti appears in an episode of The Goodies entitled Bigfoot, in a sequence where Graeme Garden (in his guise of real life British author, inventor and television presenter Arthur C. Clarke) treks to the Himalayan foothills to track down the elusive creature. He leaves a copy of his book out for the Yeti to eat and asks Bill and Tim, who are watching the show at home, to yell out if the monster appears to eat the book. Sure enough, the furry white creature appears and despite Tim and Bill's pleading for Graeme to turn around and catch a glimpse of the monster, he stubbornly refuses and claims the teeth marks on the book to be the work of mice.
  • 2001: In an episode of Invader Zim, a student from Dib's school is interviewed, claiming Dib had called his father a Yeti.

2005: The episode 'Nightmare Generator' of 'Robot Chicken' featured a sketch involving Santa Claus and his illegal drug ring. At one point, Santa attempts to smuggle condoms of cocaine in the belly of a yeti. However, the condoms burst and the yeti goes on a wild rampage.

  • 2005-2007 In 2 Camp Lazlo episodes,2 yetis were shown.In Radio Free Edward,2 yetis scared Edward and they talked on the radio and played music.And in Marshmallow Jones,another Camp Lazlo episode,got scared when the Squirrel Scouts screamed in terror when they got stuck in marshmallow goo.
  • 2006: In Mr. Meaty, Parker orders a baby Yeti from TV, which grows to enormous sizes, and is named Eddie.

  • Author R.L. Stine created a book for his Goosebumps series titled "The Abominable Snowman Of Pasadena."
  • R.L. Stine also created another book for his Give Yourself Goosebumps series titled "Zapped in Space" in which the player can choose different endings. One ending has a character named "The Abominable Snowwoman".
  • The Granuous, a type of monster from the Deltora series, resemble a mix of a dog and a yeti.
  • yeti is also present in one of the kakababu deries written by a bengali author sunil ganguly.

  • 1960: In 1960, the Tintin comic book Tintin in Tibet was published, featuring a story about a yeti. This has been claimed to be the author Hergé's own favorite in the series. The yeti incurres the wrath of Captain Haddock by stealing his last bottle of whisky and drinking it all down: when Haddock furiously follows the yeti's trail you can see the creature's outline in the snow where he drunkenly fell over and walked off in a hap-hazard way. The yeti is, however, shown as a humane creature who looks after the survivor of a crashed aircraft and is upset when he leaves the area.
  • 2004: Published in 2004 in Helsinki, cartoon book "Elamantapainsinoorit 1" featured Snowman on its cover. The creature also appeared on two strips in the book.
  • A Yeti attack was responsible for the disbanding of the 1960s version of the Suicide Squad

  • In the game Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, there is sometimes a Yeti-like creature in the forest at winter.
  • In the RPG Titan Quest, Yeties appear in the Orient in the mountains and are very large monkey-like creatures with white fur. The other variety is the Hulking Yeti, a stronger version of the Yeti with grey fur. In one Side Quest, you have to kill a Gargantuan Yeti that is twice bigger than a hulking yeti, has bluish fur and can spit ice.
  • The role-playing game Final Fantasy VI contains an unlockable character named Umaro who is based on the yeti.
  • Wizet's online game MapleStory also has several versions of "Yeti" monsters.
  • In the Nintendo 64 game Mischief Makers, one of the Beastector generals, Taurus, resembles a mix of a cybernetic ape and a yeti. His vehicle, a tank, is called the Sasquatch β.
  • The Nintendo DS game, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow has the yeti as one of three cryptozoology based monsters. It bears more resemblance to Bigfoot, however. The Yeti appears as a hidden monster that gives you the rare Yeti soul when defeated.
  • The computer game SkiFree has Abominable Snow Monsters that chase the player when they reach certain boundaries in the game world. If they catch up the player is eaten.
  • 2002: The Game Boy Advance game "Urban Yeti" was released and was used for many jokes and puns (mainly revolving around the term "Ready to YETI!!!" ) within the now defunct video game magazine GameNOW.
  • There is a Yeti named Bentley featured in several of the Spyro games and is playable in Spyro: Year of the Dragon. There are other yetis seen in the Spyro games, including Bentley's younger brother, Bartholomew, as well as others that are portrayed as both friendly beings (Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly) and enemies (Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage, Spyro: Year of the Dragon and Spyro: A Hero's Tail).
  • 2001: A Yeti In the video game NBA Street is an unlockable character.
  • The PS2 game Drakan: The Ancients' Gates features yetis as enemy characters, including the boss-character, Daemog. The yetis in this game resemble recolored versions of the giants in the Drakan games.
  • In the PlayStation and PC game Tomb Raider 2: The Dagger Of Xian, Lara Croft the main character battles Yetis. They are enemy characters in the levels: Catacombs of the Talion and Ice Palace. They also make a reappearance as Sasquatch or Big Foot, in the "Kingdom" level in the Tomb Raider 2 Gold, re-release. Also in Tomb Raider Legend, a picture shown drawn by Lara when she was a child, shows drawings of Yetis.
  • Yetisports, a series of popular computer, cell phone, and web games featuring a yeti as the main character.
  • One of the Vacation Mascots for The Sims: Vacation expansion packs is a yeti, and can interact with child Sims.
  • In the game Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection (or via downloadable patch), it is possible to adopt a yeti for an exhibit.
  • In the game Gladius, one of the arenas have yetis in it and it is possible to enroll them in your school.
  • In Gauntlet: Dark Legacy, a yeti is one of the bosses. This yeti is different then the stereotype, because it can breathe ice and turns to ice in its death animation. It also seems fairly intelligent because it is wearing clothes.
  • In the online game Silkroad, yetis are high-level monsters found on the western-half of China.
  • In the Nintendo 64 game Banjo-Tooie, players meet a yeti named Biggafoot in the Hailfire Peaks stage. In the same level there area also smaller yetis who serve as enemies.
  • In Guild Wars, there are a species of Yeti monsters living in Cantha.
  • In the bizarre MMORPG Kingdom of Loathing, one of the toughest and most rewarding monsters is called a Knott Yeti.
  • In Mega Man X8, there is a Maverick known as Avalanche Yeti. He is proportioned much like the reported accounts of the yeti and speaks with a gruff Russian voice.
  • In the Carnivores hunting simulation sequel Carnivores: Ice Age, the Yeti is a fierce bipedal primate that lives to kill. It is 10 feet tall with superior senses of smell, sight, and hearing, and loathes the humans who hunt him. He has a red-belly and white fur.
  • In the role-playing game DragonFable, there's a boss Yeti character appeared named Icemaster Yeti.
  • The game Destroy All Humans! 2 features an odd job mission where you must kill the yeti (actually one of the alien Blisk) and bring the corpse to an old man for a reward.
  • Yeti appear in several areas in World of Warcraft, most notably Alterac Mountains and Winterspring.
  • Snowier and Siroma are monsters that may resemble a Yeti. Snowiers are aggressive and big but Siromas are more smaller, younger and pacific than Snowiers. Both appear in the Ice Cave in Ragnarok Online, since the Rachel Episode.
  • By activation of cheat codes in America's Army, a player may be able to see a yeti-like creature in some levels.

  • The Yetties, one Britain's longest running folk bands, are sadly not named after the abominable snowman, but after their home village, Yetminster in Dorset.
  • 2000: Radiohead realeased several internet blips to acompany their forth album Kid A; One of which is called Yeti.
  • 1996: In 1996 a group called Mystery of the Yeti released an album called 'The Mystery of the Yeti'. It was followed in 1999 by 'The Mystery of the Yeti Part 2'.
  • Gregg Yeti (of The Flashing Astonishers) is a modern indie rock musician who took on the abominable one for a last name.
  • 1977: The Yeti Band (not to be confused with the British group, Yeti), an avant-garde rock/jazz group called played in and around New York City from 1977 to around 1990. The band had a rotating membership, but was created by and always featured guitarist/leader Steven Bosky. The band was named after Bosky's rock opera, "The Yeti", about a hunt for the legendary abominable snowman. The band's members included (at various times) Doug Walker (synth), Cary Steiner (trumpet and vocals), Alan Baratz (drums), Elliot Harris (congas), Craig Birney (bass). Several underground tapes exist.
  • In Snowboard Park Tycoon(for PC), the Yeti is an unlockable snowboarder, as well as featured in some of the challenges.
  • The Hallucinogen song "The Herb Garden" prominently freatures the Yeti.

  • Polish artist Stanisław Szukalski's belief system, called Zermatism, that many people are actually subhuman descendants of yetis ("Yetinsyny") was adopted by the Church of the SubGenius, with the twist that SubGenii are supposed to be superior mutants descended from godlike Yetinsyn ancestors.
  • 1992: The HeroQuest expansion set Frozen Horror, released in the US and Canada, featured two Yeti miniatures as monsters.
  • The Flash cartoon series Eskimo Bob features a yeti as a recurring character. It is usually portrayed as a henchman to the various villains in the series with limited intelligence.
  • The Yeti was featured in a Poptart commercial for Hot Fudge Sundae Poptarts.
  • A yeti in Pop-Tart's commercials tells about the new Pop Tarts that you could freeze with.
  • For the 2005-2006 Snowboard Season, Shaun White's graphic featured a yeti on the surface and base.
  • 2006: The Coca-Cola Company made TV spots for worldwide distribution related to the 2006 FIFA World Cup, where a Yeti is both mentioned and featured cheering for a given national team selected depending on where the TV spot is aired.
  • Yhetees appear in the Ogre Kingdoms army in Warhammer . Although spelt diferently, they posses many similar qualities.
  • Several Looney Tunes shorts feature a Yeti named Hugo. He is obsessed with having a rabbit, whom he will call George. This is an allusion to a character from Of Mice and Men named Lennie - who is a large, physically strong man with the mind of a child.
