[edit] Biography
I was born in Birmingham in 1964, grew up in Clevedon, came to Leicester to study at the University in 1983, graduated in 1986, and have been here ever since. Since associating with engineers has made me forget most of the geochemistry I once knew, I am now studying for an Open University BA degree in philosophy and psychology. I tend to contribute mainly to articles about jazz, philosophy, and geographical areas I have links to. There is deliberately not a lot of personal information here. I'm not a fan of the culture of barnstars, stress thermometers and so on. I also don't think it's a good idea for editors to make a big deal of their various political and social attitudes.
As of 8 December 2005, I'm an administrator (RfA). If you want to contact me, leave a message on my talk page or email me (preferably the former, as I prefer things to be done in the open, but the latter if you need something to be confidential). I don't use IRC or anything similar.
