[edit] Adminship
Thanks, Andre, for your support on my RFA. 'Tis appreciated. JOHN COLLISON [ Ludraman] 15:39, 28 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Your vote
While I do have some guidelines that I believe admins should folow, and vote accordingly, I don't think it's fair to say I "consistenly" vote oppose (Spencer195 Ta bu shi da yu). Also, how is "inclusionism" a negative factor for adminship? I don't consider myself "overwrought" by any stretch, and even if I were, certainly having access to "janitorial" admin rights doesn't change how I feel or how I'd vote. -- Netoholic @ 16:41, 2004 Oct 28 (UTC)
[edit] RfA nomination
Hi Andrevan,
Just wanted to say thanks for your vote of support on RfA. It looks like I've been promoted, and I look forward to helping out with admin tasks. -spencer195 10:17, 29 Oct 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Thank You
Hi Andre, How you doing? I want to thank you for your initial support of my nomination. I know that you moved your vote to neutral and I understand. I tried to explain that the first couple of disputes were only in the begining and everything was solved between the affected parties (with me accepting my faults) but, that was part of my learning experience in Wikipedia. I know that I'm not going to make it but, that's life. I would like however, to be counted among your Wikipedian friends. Take care.
[edit] Jesus related NPOV dispute
Could you take a look at the edit history and talk page of Cultural and historical background of Jesus? CheeseDreams 23:51, 2 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- The issue was really about trying to find a way to stop the constant reverts. This has been dealt with now by an admin Protecting the page. And then by another admin NPOV protecting the page, as the first admin was actually brought into the dispute by the other user for POV reasons, and applied his POV before protecting. [edit] Hi Andrevan
Greetings :) A meetup in NY is planned for the weekend of Nov 13: Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC. I hope you can make it... +sj+ 21:51, 3 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- NYC's the center of the universe, after all!
- 2pm at the Argosy book store, midtown (see the meetup page), it looks like. Is this okay? +sj+

[edit] Fourth Warp Wistle
The forth warp wistle isn't false. It's in the section with the spikes that go up and down. You need a power-wing to get it. You fly all the way to the right, and it takes you to a place above the area where you fight Boom-Boom or whatever that donkey-kong-lookin turtle's name is. The screen goes black and you're transported to a room similar to the one in the world 1 minifortress. You open the chest, and either a warp wistle or a hammer brother suit will appear. I haven't yet figured out what conditions affect which of these it will be. But there is a forth wistle. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself and see.
Also, the hammer brother suit only protects against fireballs in the All-Star version for the Super NES. In the older version, the only place this "works" is in the credits played after beating the game, when we see a picture of Mario ducking while in the hammer brother suit, and a fireball being deflected from his shell. It doesn't actually work in the game. Found that one out the hard way. (Ticked me off too, those Hammer Brother suits are hard to come by, and are probably the most ass-kicking power-up in the whole game.) --Corvun 17:32, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Other Warp Wistles
(Sorry for the second post) Also, after beating one of the airships (I don't recall which it was), you can obtain a warp wistle via a letter from the princess. There's another one hidden in World 7, and yet another in World 8 (what the point of this is I don't know).
The thing is, you can only have three. If you already have three wistles in your inventory, all the others are converted into "P" wings or other power-ups. The only way to find all seven is to keep using them, never having more than two in your inventory at any given time.
I'm not sure if this is true in the All-Star version, as I've only managed to find all seven in the original NES version. --Corvun 17:40, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Andre needs to stop harrassing me
Dude, seriously, please stop. Even though this is your first warning, this is your last. I don't know what you are talking about and your last (first) message to me was out of line. I don't edit pages. I don't even really enjoy reading this crap. Get a life. Get a wider chair. Last warning or you will be blocked (from your Oreos).
- I've responded at User talk:137.246.104.100, the gist of which being I don't know what this is referring to and probably someone else had this user's IP. Andre (talk) 22:38, Nov 12, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Do Me A Favor
How you doing, Andre? I would like to know if you can take a look at Vanesa Littlecrow for me. Someone wrote that it was POV and what I think that the person is referring to is the phrase "multitalented". When I wrote that phrase I was referring to the fact that she has more then one talent. The person wants to discuss this in the talk page. Could you look into this? I respect your opinion. User:Marine 69-71
[edit] Thank You
Thank You Andre, for looking into the Vanesa Littlecrow thing. You know, I couldn't figure it out either. I glad that I relied on you. Sometimes you have to receive imput from others. Take care! User:Marine 69-71
[edit] Ol' Dirty Bastard
African-American is not correct, African American is not correct, in current syntax it is neither a proper noun nor the beginning of a sentance it should be african american. The phrase is also commonly spelled with a hypen, this is INCORRECT USE as it is not a compound word. Just thought you should be told why I kept reverting that change. Alkivar 19:34, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- "African-American" is grammattically incorrect. "African American," however, contains the adjective "African" describing "American." That is correct. Fortunately, we can do without both by resorting to the proper English forms "Afro-American" or "Aframerican." Moreover, realize--and this is more of a general tip--that "African-American" would be correct if a noun succeeded it. For instance, "African-American person." For other words, "action in real time" versus "real-time action." Adraeus 08:51, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- This is one of those things that need attending in articles such as Condoleezza Rice and African American. Adraeus 09:48, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I appreciate your positive vote on my RFA. Cheers, Joyous 23:43, Nov 15, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Nomination
Andre, I believe in you and I've seen your dedication. I really believe that you are among the people that have made Wikipedia what it is today. My support for you is not based so much on the friendship that we've developed but, on your ability and dedication. Wish you luck, your friend. Tony the Marine
[edit] I Believe You made It
I voted for you but, it seems that I and three other supporters were too late. Tell me did you make it? If so let me be the first to congratulate you. I know that you'll do an excellent job. Your friend. Tony the Marine
[edit] too late
I went to go vote, but it looks like I was too late. On the up side, I think you had enough to make it? Seems like it was close. Let me know earlier next time, if not! ;) Sam [Spade] 07:02, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- I, too, wish I knew earlier. I would have grabbed a few more of my friends to vote in your favor. Do keep me informed when you run again (for anything, even dogcatcher) Regards, --ExplorerCDT 16:00, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Deleting pages?
There are a lot of things about Wikipedia I still don't understand, specifically how deleting pages works so I figured I'd ask you since I see a lot of contributions by you in video game related articles. Two articles SEGA M8, a redirect to Sonic Team and IMO a typo meant to be SEGA AM8 unless I'm mistaken and List of Retro Studios games. For the latter, I'm not sure why a page like this needs to even exist especially since Retro Studios only has two released games, which can easily fit on the already small article for Retro Studios. Perhaps you would disagree. In anycase, as previously stated I'm unsure how to go about getting these articles or future articles deleted if the situation warrants it. [edit] Re: Bureaucratship
I would like to support if you run again, but please consider waiting a little longer than a week. As the page says, "If your nomination is rejected, please wait a reasonable period of time before applying again." I don't think a week is a "reasonable period" (obviously that's subjective). I'm not sure I could be supportive if you put it up again that soon, as it sets a poor example. For instance, some people think it's OK if a VfD is kept, that they can put it up against straight away hoping different people will vote the next time. I don't think that's the kind of behaviour that is to be encouraged.
Be patient, and I'm sure more people will come out to vote next time and you'll be fine. :)
PS: Thanks for your support on my adminship. Shane King 01:00, Nov 17, 2004 (UTC)
- "Wait" two weeks. During those 14 days, collect support and remind them you're running again on whatever date. Adraeus 05:21, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Well you seem like a great sysop so that's why I feel you'll be a great Bureaucrat. Just do me a favour when you go up for Bureaucratship remind me so that I could vote for you ;) Thanks.--Comrade Nick @)---^-- 10:36, 18 Nov 2004 (UTC)
