[edit] request for mediation
dear andrevan,
i certainly have fallen into a black hole. could you please help. I posted an article which was summarily deleted as an advertisement. this article is a technical article about a novel use of nomex, on which, i have a patent pending. the novel use was turned into a product called the cool touch oven rack guard. it is a first of its kind product. the deletionist's contention that it is an advertisement is bogus if you compare it to a wikipedia acceptable article for "Roomba". if roomba is not advertisement, then "Cool Touch". isn't either. alternatively delete roomba and all such articles/adverts.
during my discussion with the deletionists, the history was: 1). delete because advert 2). my edit to remove name of product and link to manufacturer's webpage 3). told article must have ind. ver. and notable sources 4). included links to 3 i,v,n sources 5). deletionist then focuses on "must be nationally know" 6). i see that my discussion with him will lead to an infinite process, of obfuscation. so i am now asking for mediation.
i dont know if you can access the history on this, if not i will try to supply the various items i refer to.
to answer the question of "nationally known". here is a link to a video article on Cool Touch shown on HGTV, Scripts Media Company, which is a certainly nationally known news and information company. (i have put the "page on my Ftp space for safe keeping) http://members.aol.com/bshul/hgtv.html I hope you will straighten this whole thing out. I am hopeful that i will be able to post the my article with the product name and the link to the manufacturers website. I'm not telling you how to answer my request, but please include in your answer, comment on my Roomba contention. thanks burt 845 298 4229
[edit] please delete Roomba article
its an advert according to phroziac.

[edit] now i understand...i think
So are you saying that if someone else posts the article on the oven rack guard, it will be ok? or is this article forever banned because "I" submitted it? It was not my idea to post the article... so can i go back to the person who suggested it and tell them the situation and see what they want to do as far as being the poster? they have no vested interest in this. Sincerely burt

[edit] Need assistance
Hi there,
Thanks for taking the time to read my inquiry. I need your assistance in posting an article in your Wikipedia regarding a device called the "Cool Touch Oven Rack Guard." I've read about it on several sites and think it would be a good informational article similar to the "how stuff works" type article on your site.
Can you please walk me through the steps again so that I can contribute to this great encyclopedia. I am not affiliated with the manufacturer or inventor of this product. Hope you can direct me as to how I can include it into your site.
Thanks in advance, Allison Rose aka NoMoreBurns :-D

[edit] An Esperanzial note
As I remember, the last spam that was handed out was on the 20th of December last year, so I think it's time for another update. First and foremost, the new Advisory Council and Administrator General have been elected. They consist of myself as Admin General and FireFox, Titoxd, Flcelloguy and Karmafist as the Advisory Council. We as a group met formally for the first time on the 31st of Decembe. The minutes of this meeting can be found at WP:ESP/ACM. The next one is planned for tonight (Sunday 29 January) at 20:30 UTC and the agenda can be found at WP:ESP/ACM2.
In other news, Karmafist has set up a discussion about a new personal attack policy, which it can be found here. Other new pages include an introductory page on what to do when you sign up, So you've joined Esperanza... and a welcome template: {{EA-welcome}} (courtesy of Bratsche). Some of our old hands may like to make sure they do everything on the list as well ;) Additionally, the userpage award program proposal has become official is operational: see Wikipedia:Esperanza/User Page Award to nominate a userpage or volunteer as a judge. Also see the proposed programs page for many new proposals and old ones that need more discussion ;)
Other than that, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and wish you an Esperanzially good new WikiYear :D Thank you! --Celestianpower háblame 16:57, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mediation requested
Sorry to bother you with this, but as a South African who lived and suffered under the apartheid regime, I find user:OrangeMan's claims that apartheid-era South Africa was 'democratic' offensive - as does user:Ezeu. We have had a long and virulent debate with him at Mandela talk, but in keeping with Wikipedia policy have not reversed the changes he has influenced in the Mandela website. Where the buck stops, in my opinion, is user:OrangeMan's visiting my user page to continue the argument. I wish to have nothing to do with him - can you please prevent him from visiting my userpage? Note that he has insulted me at Mandela_Talk, calling me 'young' and 'foolish'.Swissjames 17:09, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- It was not my intention to insult User:Swissjames and I did not go to his talk page to "continue the arguement" but rather to point him to Wikipedias resources on NPOV. He has stated he finds terms personally offensive, even though such terms and facts were recognized by the United Nations. His personal feelings on this matter are by his own admission entering into the articles as POV. As he states above "as a South African who lived and suffered under the apartheid regime, I find user:OrangeMan's claims that apartheid-era South Africa was 'democratic' offensive". By the very definition he is admitting to POV and attempting to slant the articles in question. If he wishes mediation because I asked him to read NPOV that is his choice and I am willing to do so. [edit] Proposal
I ask the members of the Mediation Committee a question. I am currently working on a very massive change to how the dispute resoution is done as well as how Wikipedia functions. I want to make an Appeals board (for use of a better name), that would resolve issues before they go to the Arbitration Committee as well as help enforce there (arbcom's) rulings. Earlier, when I sought to make a higher group it didn't work, but my goal would be reached with either proposal. Now back to the idea: The board would have nine members, three selected by the Arbcom, five selected by the public (users) and one selected by Jimbo. They would each serve six-month terms (I can always change this) and would require a simple majority to make a descision. I feel that I must recieve your advise, because you deal with disputes all the time. So I ask for your comments, good or bad. Thank you for your time. WikieZach 01:16, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
