[edit] Answer
Hmm, I hadn't realised I crossed the 10K threshold - gee thanks for pointing out how much time I've wasted here :P. I haven't really thought about becoming an admin since you last asked. Not really sure what I'd do with it besides police vandalism here and there. I suppose I could try it out. What exactly do I need to do? K1Bond007 06:27, August 12, 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you much sir! K1Bond007 20:34, August 12, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] GCIDOTW template moved to appropriate namespace
Thank you for your suggestion, which I have heeded; the {{GCIDOTW}} template has been moved from my user namespace to the template namespace. Grumpy Troll (talk) 07:04, 12 August 2005 (UTC).
[edit] Excuses for bad administrators
YOU WROTE:
The link bit
Unlike the Open Directory Project, Wikipedia isn't a link directory, so links that aren't especially useful or notable are usually removed, especially if they are self-promotional in nature. That's what the admins that contacted you meant, I'm sure, and unfortunately under this convention your link is probably not appropriate. Only the largest, most prominent fansites are included. Sometimes admins can be a little terse or vague with anonymous users, so I apologize on their behalf that you didn't understand. Andre (talk) 14:30, August 10, 2005 (UTC) -
Oh please, how on earth could your administrators decide that my site isn't 'especially useful or notable' without even checking it out first?
Furthermore, how can you honestly say that Wikipedia is not a link directory? Every halfway decent article on the site has many external links associated with it.
You really ought to apologize for the laziness of your administrative team rather than insult me by saying I didn't understand them.
[edit] Ripping of your userpage
Hi, just wanted to know that I'm cloning part of your userpage, namely the "biases" section on my userpage. Track me down and assassinate me if you object ;) Jacoplane 02:00, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
- By the way, I'm curious, is it really possible to be an atheist Jew? I mean, the phase Atheist Christian or Muslim does not make much sense. My grandfather is Jewish, so many of my cousins are Jewish, but I've never seen them claim to be Jewish and Atheist concurrently. Jacoplane 02:07, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
-
- I added the below to Atheism as the article makes a big deal out of polls that include atheism as an exclusive category. It was deleted when a group of friends decided it should be deleted because some of them thought it was so obviously true and others feelt it should be deleted because it was so obviously false. (Copied from my user talk page to keep everything in one place): I think someting along the lines of what you showed me belongs in the article, but that particular version is somewhat "original research"-ish, which may be part of the reason why it was removed. See if you can rewrite it with more sources, and perhaps modify that black box white box bit to be a little more formal. Andre (talk) 17:52, August 27, 2005 (UTC)
- Yes. Everything you just said is 100% true. If I could improve it I would. I can't so I won't. Gee whiz, it sure would be nice if Wikipedia had some sort of collaberative system so people could improve on the efforts of others. WAS 4.250 18:05, 27 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Nonexclusive and contradictory use
Atheism is a nonexclusive condition and can be combined with also being Jewish (by race), also being Buddhist (as a philosophy and ethical system), also being called a Christian (some believe "once a Christian, always a Christian" [1]; others may admire Christ as a role model while rejecting any religious implications), and even in apparent contradiction calling oneself something other than atheist when specifically choosing between atheist and something else [2].
Atheism is nonexclusive when the definition of atheism and the definition of the other state both apply, example: Jewish atheist. Atheism is nonexclusive when by one point of view or situation atheism as a label applies and by another point of view or situation it does not. Am I talking to someone who shares my understanding of the word or to someone who understands the definition or implications very differently from me?
The apparent contradiction of being both atheist and nonatheist is no more actually contradictory than a person or a box being black from one point of view and white from another.
The nature of belief itself also permits apparent opposites to be believed. Most people have no trouble believing in both timely behavior "He who hesitates is lost" and caution "Look before you leap", even though on some occasions you can't do both.
Logical positivism asserts the term god is meaningless. So not only may one be both atheist from one point of view and nonatheist from another, some assert they are neither atheist nor nonatheist.
The previous discussion covers honest nonexclusive and contradictory use. The nature of speech allows actual opposites to be asserted as opposed to merely apparent opposites; sometimes in error, sometimes as a ploy. So in its actual use as a word, atheism can be used in a nonexclusive or contradictory fashion with any other term whatever.

Chortle. Thank you so much, how handsome it is! The credit goes to the Idiot Pair, though, with special thanks to the Crazy Lady. The usual sterling work by Laurel and Hardy goes without saying, and ... OK, I'll stop. Bishonen | talk 07:59, 13 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Commercial pornography link
The English language article on Bukkake has a commercial External Link to a pornography company. I personally suspect, the article was written to support the External Link. After the controversy over the Beeb, I suspected it would have been removed days ago.

[edit] Please stop editing my entries
I wrote those and if I wanted my name on them, I would have put it there. Would you like it if I edited your stuff? I may use the name Maluka but if you could look on nick, it's Brenda. Please stop. Thank you

[edit] apology
I am going to decline to answer your question on this occasion, as I may end up saying something I will later regret. Apologies. The JPS 19:04, 18 August 2005 (UTC)

Thank you. You know, everyone makes mistakes when inexperienced, and it's those mistakes we're all learning from. Some months ago, when I had trouble on America's Army with this new user, I wish I had had these more enlightened opponents in the dispute, like you =) NightBeAsT 21:45, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism Warning
According to Wikipedia policy, I must warn you of your vandalism and ask you to stop before I report you for vandalism.
Please refrain from adding nonsense to Wikipedia's article: Metroid: Zero Mission. It is considered vandalism. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Dai Grepher 21:56, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Second vandalism Warning
Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Dai Grepher 03:56, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
- I actually feel like accusing Dai Grepher of vandalizing my User Talk Page, although I did ask for it by posting on his user page. However, what User:A Link to the Past has posted on my talk page completely explains the pittance of evidence that he cites.
- Plus, I'm now going to smash one part of his argument without assuming retcon. And by the way, both Ridley and Metroid: Zero Mission are on my watchlist by now.
- I sometimes feel like adding a one-sided "lame edit war" sign somewhere, just for someone else to have the fun of moving it to BJAODN (or merely viewing pleasure). ~GMH 06:09, 21 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks!
Thanks for the nomination and the congratulation :) Kind of wish I knew what "in-group" I'm apart of, although honestly I'm not even sure I know what one is. Heh. K1Bond007 22:04, August 19, 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah congratulations! I'm sure the in-group consists of some fundamental video game fanatic suicide bombing terrorist cell or something. We'll have to keep a close eye on you to make sure you don't start spouting your crazy dogma here! :P Jacoplane 22:15, 19 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Mediation abandoned
The dispute between Rangerdude, myself, and other editors is moving to arbitration. Therefore it appears that mediation is not our active mode. Though after two months with no agreement on how to proceed the mediation was never really active anyway. Thank you for volunteering to mediate, for prodding us repeatedly, and for your calm, impartial presence. Cheers, -Willmcw 22:30, August 19, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Criticized since when?
Huge topic about the SMB3 save system sucking (as well as how hard the game is).
Point taken. I suppose it needs to be in an official review before making it a verifable point. Hbdragon88 23:36, 20 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Metroid series locations and minor creatures pages.
I have 2 suggestions:
- About the pages on Metroid series locations (List of Metroid locations and Areas in the Metroid Series): I think it would be a better idea to either consolidate all the locations into one large page (and simply get rid of the list, and instead use redirects to a master page like Areas in the Metroid Series...dunno how to inform new Wikipedians to post Metroid locations stuff on that page), OR to separate all these areas into each having their own page, or bunch of redirects "complexes" to one page such as Agon Wastes redirecting to Aether (fictional planet). I personally advocate the second idea slightly. What do you think, and how would I get together a group of people to cooperate on this effort (this is kinda a huge project for one person, I'd think, not to mention that I don't know much about Metroid Prime or Prime 2 or Metroid II)?
- About the pages on Metroid's minor creatures: I doubt that little monsters like the Geruta really deserve their own page, but I'd hate to seem them disappear from Wikipedia. So why not make a huge page for them, or split it up into groups, like creatures from Norfair, friendly creatures, creatures from Dark Aether, etc.? Also, a number of links to Metroid creatures whose names also mean other things (e.g. "Dragon", "Rio") simply go to non-Metroid-related articles on their respective common usages. I'd think there should be some kind of list or mega-article (or group of such articles) and then have something like Dragon (Metroid species) redirect to there. Same question as above; how'd I get a cooperative effort going and also inform other Wikipedians new to the situation to follow the format?
Thanks in advance for all your help. ~GMH 06:29, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
- Oh, follow-up: List of Metroid characters has some of those problems I mentioned above, and also, I'd think it'd be more helpful to split it into creatures (by region), major characters (e.g. Samus, Ridley), and supporting cast (e.g. Adam, Armstrong Houston, Virginia Aran). Or something like that. ~GMH 06:35, 23 August 2005 (UTC)
