[edit] Incorrect published information
An article in The Covington News published on January 8, 2006, [1] stated that Irwin’s mother, Tootsie, was one of the inspiration for the character of Aunt Marguerite and that “his mother . . . passed away after suffering a stroke in October. She was visiting Jonesborough, Tenn. to watch her son perform at the National Story-Telling Festival.” While it is correct that Aunt Marguerite is based partly on Irwin's mother, Tootsie Irwin passed away many years ago. It was Andy Offutt Irwin’s step-mother who died of a stoke she suffered while in Jonesborough to watch her step-son perform.Cynrin 14:17, 27 June 2006 (UTC)
On his album Save Every Sunday for a Funeral, Irwin tells the story of his step-mother’s fatal stroke during the weekend of his first performance at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough. Cynrin 18:07, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
