Talk:Andy Levin

[edit] NPOV/verifiability policy edit
In effort to meet Wikipedia’s neutrality, personal views and opinions, and verifiability policies, I have removed the following text from the 2006 Election section:
“Andy was also the target of a coordinated smear campaign by the Pappageorge campaign and the Michigan Chamber of Commerce. He was falsely accused of being Washington DC lobbyist in both television and print ads.”
The term “smear campaign” clearly betrays a non-neutral point of view.
The author presents no sources or verifiability for any sort of coordination between Mr. Pappageorge and the Chamber of Commerce. Finally, the author presents no sources or verifiability for either the claim that Mr. Levin was accused of being a lobbyist or the claim that Mr. Levin was not a lobbyist.
Based on Wikipedia’s verifiability policy, any material likely to be challenged requires a reliable source. Some basic information, such as Mr. Levin’s educational background or current occupation is unlikely to be challenged as it is not obviously beneficial to Mr. Levin or his political opponents. However, the quotation above implicitly calls into question the character and truthfulness of his political opponents and implies that Mr. Levin may have lost the election on less than fair or just grounds. Moreover, if it is true that Mr. Levin’s opponents made the above claims that he was a lobbyist, then it is likely that they would dispute his claim that he was not one.
On these grounds, the selection should not be added back to the article until it is both written from a neutral point of view and documented using unbiased sources.
