All the footballer databases om-line (Soccerfactsuk, Football365, Sky etc.) give Gravesend as Place of birth: I presume they all use one source, whatever that would be. Would Triggs' book be nearer to the horse's mouth? Or would they both be right: born at Gravesend in the registration district of Dartford (or vice versa?) Kevin McE 23:17, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

I dunno, to be honest. Excellent job on the page, BTW! ChrisTheDude 07:13, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] GA review

I have looked over this article and done some copyediting. I find that it meets the GA criteria for verifiability, neutrality, stability, breadth of coverage, and images. While the article is well-written, my only remaining concern is that there is some assumed knowledge in the article. Because it needs to be accessible to all readers, I think some minor clarifications are in order:

From the "Non-league career" section:

  1. A casual reader wouldn't know what "Watling Street" is.
  2. Likeise, casual readers wouldn't know what an "all-time England semi-pro XI" is.
  3. I'm a little embarassed to admit it, but I was very confused by the word "builder" in this section. I'm not familiar with the team in football/soccer, so I didn't know what it meant. Because it comes in the middle of a discussion of football/soccer, would it be possible to wikilink it to "construction" or something similar?
All done ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:38, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

From the "Watford and Gillingham" section:

  1. I'm assuming that "fee" is another word for "salary", but it would be nice to have some clarification (either "annual fee" or wikilinking the term to "salary").
  2. I'm confused by the phrase "he made 217 appearances in all competitions".
All done. "Fee" refers to the fee the club paid to his former club to sign him, and has nothing to do with salaries ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:40, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

From the "Player-management" section:

  1. "mid-table finish" should be explained, as it is not a term that a casual reader would necessarily understand.
  2. In "At 40 years and four months of age", my understanding is that it is not correct to use numerals and spell out numbers in the same phrase. Both "40" and "four" shoudl be in the same format.
All done ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

From the "References" section:

  1. The citations from the Roger Triggs book should have page numbers for each use.
Done - all refer to the same page ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:41, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

I am placing the article on hold for one week to allow for these to be addressed. If you have any questions or concerns about them, please get in touch. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 21:55, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

All sorted now, I think...... ChrisTheDude (talk) 21:45, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
I am satisfied that this article meets all of the GA criteria. I have listed it as a GA. Congratulations! You are a strong writer with a good understanding of the GA criteria, and it would be great if you could help review a couple of nominations at WP:GAN to help reduce the backlog. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 21:57, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
