[edit] Goober

Goober in The Andy Griffith Show was mostly called Goober Beasely. I believe the Pyle surname was only for a couple episodes.

Absolutely WRONG. Goober was Goober Pyle Gomer's cousin.

Well, no, not ABSOLUTELY wrong. Goober was, for most of the series, called Goober Pyle and was Gomer's cousin. But in at least one episode, Andy introduced Goober to another character as Goober Beasley, as documented on page 132 of "The Andy Griffith Show Book" by Ken Beck and Jim Clark. I remember the episode myself, because I was struck by Andy saying that last name. I'll see if I can dig up the specific episode in which it happened. But it DID happen. [edit] Matlock

Should Matlock not be mentioned?

I think Matlock should be listed. It's something he was involved in. --Jennie Ambrose 09:36, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Monologist"?

Is Monologist a word? Answer: No it is not. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.140.196.148 (talkcontribs). 06:51, 12 July 2006

Monologist dates from 1625, according to the OED, and has been used in its present sense, "one who presents monologues", since 1711. I challenge anyone to find a serious dictionary that does not have this word in it. The person who wrote this pulled it from the place the sun don't shine, which is why it is hard to find definitions there. Ortolan88 15:44, 7 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Penis

I removed the "Griffith has the largest penis of any white man alive 19 inches." from the trivia section. I can find NO verification this is true. Please correct if you know otherwise. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.163.142.154 (talk • contribs) 14:31, April 26, 2007 (UTC).

Assuming you're not being sarcastic, it is not really necessary to make a comment here for a reversion of blatant vandalism. Thanks for cleaning it up, though. -- Satori Son 14:46, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Section on Ron Howard

The section under the Andy Griffith show on this page is ridiculous...I can't understand what Ron Howard is supposed to be saying enough to edit it. For example:

""I was always grateful for the experience and the atmosphere that was created, because it was the best of all possible for coming environments, particularly for a kid growing up.""

There's just no way that's a direct quote from an American actor with half a brain. Consider also:

""It would give a chance to absolutely go highly on top, and do something different and I respect that. Although, very embarrassing to be 14-years-old and crying to effect, it hit me hard, when it finally ended." The last thing that Howard said about one of Griffith's first unpopular TV series in the 1970s, which included The Headmaster, he said, "I think they were 249 Andy Griffith episodes, well, that's a lot of seeing Andy as 1 character." Andrew Jr.’s death in 1996, drew Griffith & Howard real closer, as Howard received word as he broke down weeping. He was also one of the people to be concerned about his heart condition and surgery in 2000, and today, he still keeps Griffith in touch.""

Absolutely go highly on top? It really sounds like someone wrote this whose first language was not English, or that they copied and pasted from translation software or something. Just wanted to signal this as a poorly-written article; didn't know how to verify Ron's supposed statements enough to edit them.

I agree completely with the above. The Ron Howard section was unreadable. I have deleted it.24.6.7.233 22:07, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Language and Style

Ehm, I shudder to mention this but IMHO, the language, grammar, and style of several portions of this article, especially the section on Matlock, could do with some serious improvements. Phrases such as "Despite of him getting along with Griffith" are very bad English. Lufiend 17:27, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
