Andy Jorgensen (born November 10, 1967) is a legislator in the Wisconsin State Assembly representing the 37th District. A Democrat, he was elected in 2006. He is a member of the Committees on Agriculture, Biofuels and Sustainable Energy, Consumer Protection and Personal Privacy, and Rural Affairs.
Jorgensen was born in Omro, Wisconsin, the son of dairy farmers. He left the family farm to attend the Brown Institute in Minnesota, to train for a career in radio broadcasting. He worked as a DJ and program host at WNBK in New London, before accepting an on-air position at WFAW, in Fort Atkinson. While at the radio station, “Andy Arbuckle,” as he was known to his listeners, met and married his wife, Toni. Together, they now have three children: Jens, Myles, and Camryn.
In 1995, Jorgensen left WFAW for a job working on the assembly line at General Motors’ Janesville plant. He served as a shop steward for UAW Local 95. It was in that position he developed a sincere interest in politics, eventually leading him to run for the Wisconsin State Assembly.
Jorgensen is a resident of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. When he’s not making official stops at schools, senior centers, or community events in the district, Andy enjoys the time he spends with Cub Scout Pack 137. He has served as the pack’s leader. Andy is also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, having served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
