Andrija Delibašić (Serbian Cyrillic: Андрија Делибашић) (born April 24, 1981,in Nikšić, Montenegro, SFR Yugoslavia), is a Montenegrin football striker from Nikšić.
Delibašić started his professional career at FK Partizan, where he played for 3 and a half seasons from 2000 to December 2003.
In January 2004 he transferred to RCD Mallorca, scoring 7 goals in 29 matches.
In early 2005 he started a spell with SL Benfica that proved to be short and unsuccessful as he played only a few minutes of action in half a season.
Later that year, before the beginning of the following 2005/06 season, he moved to S.C. Braga.
In June 2005, he married his childhood love Milica.
In August 2006, he signed at AEK Athens FC on a 1 year loan from RCD Mallorca.
In January 2007, he was released from AEK Athens FC and joined Portuguese team S.C. Beira-Mar playing his first Superliga match for them against U.D. Leiria on February 4 [1]
In the Summer 2007 pre-season, Delibasic came back to Mallorca and played some inspired football with 6 goals in 2 matches. However, that was not enough to remain with the team as they loaned him out again - this time to Real Sociedad of Spanish Segunda División.
[edit] National team
Delibašić played for the Serbia-Montenegro u-21 team that finished runners-up at the 2004 European u-21 Football Championship in Germany. Couple of months later he was also part of the 2004 Olympic team that exited in the first round.
Dramatic loss of form in the following seasons resulted in his inability to keep a regular first team place in his clubs, and thus Delibašić completely dropped from the national team picture.
His chances for a national team callup increased in mid-2006 as Montenegro separated from Serbia and became an independent country, which meant that Delibašić was now eligible to play for the newly formed national team due to his birthplace. However, even before the list of callups for Montenegro's inaugural match on March 24, 2007 was announced, Delibašić voiced his dissatifaction in the press about not being contacted by Montenegrin football officials at all and then said that he would never play for the Montenegrin national team in the future if he was not included on the list of inaugural callups.[1] He ended up not being called for the inaugural match, nor did he receive any Montenegrin callups since then.
His current status with the Montenegrin national team remains unclear. In theory he's still also eligible to play for Serbia, but that seems very unlikely due to his irregular club playing status and the fact that Serbia's current coach Javier Clemente showed no interest in him.
