Andrew McAvoy

Andrew McAvoy, (born 1981 in Windsor, Ontario) is an entrepreneur, businessperson, Canadian politician and political organizer.
He has been CEO of The Yovacm Group since 1993. [1]
McAvoy joined the Green Party of Ontario in 2005 and the Green Party of Canada in 2007. He is the nominated candidate for Green Party of Canada in the federal electoral district of Windsor-Tecumseh[2]. He was also the Green Party of Ontario's candidate in the provincial electoral district of Windsor-Tecumseh for the Ontario provincial election, 2007 held October 10, 2007. McAvoy garnered a significant increase in support over 2003 results and polled best among the area ridings for the Greens. In 2007, he was elected to the Green Party of Ontario Executive at the 2007 AGM for a two-year term ending in 2009. [3]
McAvoy was elected National Chair of the National Day of Celebration for the Anglican Church of Canada in 2001. [4] [5] He also served as a long-time member of the board of director for the Anglican Church of Canada. [6] More recently, Mr. McAvoy was part of the Youth Ministry Leadership Team at Lakeshore St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
McAvoy currently serves as citizen member of the Windsor Public Library Board.
McAvoy resides in Windsor, Ontario, with his wife Allison and son Oliver. [7]

McAvoy is married to Allison McAvoy and is father to one son, Oliver. They reside in the Windsor, Ontario community of Riverside. [8]
McAvoy has also been active with several community groups including the Canadian Liver Foundation, Windsor/Essex County Humane Society, and as coach in both the Forest Glade Fastball League and the South Windsor Little League. [9]

As an entrepreneur, Mr. McAvoy’s business aspirations came early in life. While in grade school, Mr. McAvoy began serving the needs of local business with their online needs and throughout high school was involved with many business ventures as the Internet become more widely accepted.
McAvoy is currently CEO of The Yovacm Group, a company he founded in 1993, and has responsibility for other business enterprises and projects as part of the group. The Yovacm Group is an Internet consultancy, strategy and development firm based in Windsor, Ontario, with clientele such as NASA, TD Canada Trust, RICOH, Major League Baseball, CASCAR, the Windsor Spitfires, among others. Mr. McAvoy has also been involved with the Windsor and District Chamber of Commerce as well as Chambers of Commerce throughout Canada including in Ontario and British Columbia.

McAvoy was educated at the University of Windsor, the University of Western Ontario and St. Clair College, completing undergraduate and masters programs in business, politics and economics. [11]

McAvoy has been an organizer for the Green Party of Ontario and the Green Party of Canada since August 2007. He served as a non-partisan assistant and advisor to then Deputy Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Herb Gray, MP in Windsor from 1998-1999. [12]
While attending the University of Windsor, McAvoy was elected to the Board of Directors of the University of Windsor Student’s Alliance as well as the Finance Committee. McAvoy also served on the President’s Advisory Council, on the University of Windsor Human Rights Panel, and as a member of the University of Windsor Special Needs Advisory Committee. [13]
McAvoy is an elected Executive Council member for the Green Party of Ontario. His two-year term ends in 2009. [14].
McAvoy also serves as the CEO of the federal Green Party association and President of the provincial association in Windsor-Tecumseh.
McAvoy was appointment to the Windsor Public Library Board, by Windsor City Council on April 28th, 2008. [15]

McAvoy has campaigned for provincial office beginning in 2007, increasing the riding results for the Green Party by 3.73%. He is the nominated candidate for Green Party of Canada in the federal electoral district of Windsor-Tecumseh[16] for the next federal election which may be as early as spring 2008.
