Andrew Maxwell

Andrew Maxwell (born 1974) is an Irish stand-up comedian raised in Dublin, Ireland. He was raised in Kilbarrack in the Northside of Dublin and is a member of the Church of Ireland. He is 33 years old and has a son.

Early career

In 1992, at age 18, Maxwell tried stand-up comedy for the first time at a local club run by Ardal O'Hanlon. Two years later he began to play on the international stand up circuit. Warm up slots on the TV shows Jonathan Ross, Johnny Vaughan, and They Think Its All Over soon followed.

Current career

Recent credits for Maxwell include RI:SE as the USA correspondent interviewing the likes of Sandra Bullock, Val Kilmer, and Jodie Foster; and a regular guest slot on Dara Ó Briain's current affairs show The Panel now showing on Ireland's RTÉ 2.

He appeared on the newly revived Secret Policeman's Ball (2006). He has also appeared on the TV show, Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He was voted the "King of Comedy" on the Channel 4 reality TV show of the same name. He used to be somewhat of a regular on BBC Two's Sunday Show with Peter Kay.

Maxwell also hosts his own weekly late-night comedy gig Fullmooners, which mainly takes place in London but also tours around comedy festivals such as Edinburgh and the Kilkenny Cat Laughs. It has featured comics like Russell Brand, Simon Pegg, Tommy Tiernan, and Jason Byrne. It also features break-dancers and singers.

Most recently he has become a regular panelist of the very popular Irish current events/comedy show The Panel on RTE. On the final episode of the most recent series, which aired on the 29 January 2007, it was mentioned to Maxwell that his Wikipedia entry had been vandalised and stated that he had grown tentacles to attack and molest innocent people. Maxwell joked that not all of the people were innocent.

In 2007 Maxwell was nominated for an IFTA (Irish Film and Television Awards).
