A midfielder by trade, Crofts made his debut for the Gills at the age of 16 and 337 days at home to Watford in 2001. He has progressed through the Welsh international ranks, from U19 to his full international debut in the 2005/2006 season. He is currently contracted to Gillingham till 2009, a contract awarded to him by former Gills manager Stan Ternent in January 2005.
