Andrei Dapkiunas

Andrei Dapkiunas (Belarusian: Андрэй Дапкюнас, b. April 11, 1963, Minsk) is the accredited ambassador to the United Nations from the Eastern European country of Belarus. Vice-President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, ECOSOC (2008). In 2006 Dapkiunas was the Executive Board President of the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF. Before the posting to the United Nations in 2004, he worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Director of the Americas Department. He holds a political science degree from the Belarusian State University and a degree in languages (French and English) from the Minsk State Institute for Foreign Languages. He is married to Olga Dapkiunas (Lichač), with a daughter, Alena, and a son, Hleb.
