Andreas Granqvist (born 16 April 1985 in Helsingborg, Sweden) is a Swedish football player, currently representing Helsingborgs IF on loan from Wigan Athletic.
He is generally considered one of the biggest talents among Swedish central defenders and has been linked with top European clubs on several occasions, such as FC Bayern München and Liverpool.[citation needed]
In January 2007, he completed a loan move to Wigan Athletic with view to a permanent deal in the summer.[1].
On 19 June 2007, Granqvist signed a two-year deal with Wigan Athletic,[2] for a fee rumoured to be around £750,000. On 12 March 2008, Granqvist returned to HIF on a loan deal stretching till the end of the English season in June.[3]
He has played for the Sweden national football team, In May 2008, he is included in the 23-men squad of Sweden which is chance for Andreas to take part in Euro 2008.
