Andrea Dossena (born 11 September 1981 in Lodi, Italy) is an Italian football left back, who currently plays for Udinese.
Football career
Andrea began his career at Hellas Verona F.C. as a youth player before playing 4 seasons in their senior squad.
Udinese signed him in 2005, but farmed him to Treviso F.B.C. 1993 for a year, Andrea moved back to Udinese for the start of the 2006/2007 Serie A season.
In October 2007, Dossena, Cristian Zapata, Roman Eremenko and Simone Pepe were awarded a new contract until June 2012.
He made his first and so far only appearance for Italy in a friendly against South Africa on 17 October 2007. Reports in Italy on Friday 23 May 2008 suggest that Andrea Dossena is subject to a transfer to Liverpool F.C., after Udinese coach Pasquale Marino admitting that Dossena is Liverpool bound. Udinese's genaral director was in England on Wednesday 21 May 2008 to discuss with Liverpool the transfer of the Italian left back.
On June 3rd, Dossena's agent announced that the transfer was all but completed, with Liverpool beating off competition from Italian giants Juventus and Fiorentina. On Wednesday June 4 2008, the Italian underwent a medical at Melwood and now awaits the deal to formally go through. The fee is believed to be in the region of 7 million pounds.[1][2]
