Andrea Branzi (born 1938) is an architect and designer.

Branzi was born in Florence, where he also graduated in architecture. Currently he lives and works in Milan, Italy.

His work and interests relate to industrial design, architecture, urban planning, and cultural promotion. He also works as a professor of industrial design at the Politecnico di Milano University.

[edit] Archizoom and Superarchitettura

He is one of the founders of Archizoom associates, and promoter of the Italian Radical Architecture movement. From the Radical Period, came the very famous Superarchitettura theoretical framework, which brought to Anti-Design.

Andrea Branzi has collaborated with the top designers both in Italy and worldwide, such as Alessi, Artemide, Cassina, Poltronova, Vitra, Zanotta.

He has been the main guest of various 'Triennale di Milano' exhibitions. He has also held personal exhibits in many international museums (e.g. Paris', Knokke's and Brussels').

From March 28 to June 22, 2008 Andrea Branzi designs for the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain [1] two poetic installations suggestive of fragility and delicacy, made in collaboration with the CIRVA in Marseille.

In his career,Branzi wrote many books, among which: 'Learning from Milan', 'The Hot House' and 'Domestic Animals' (published by MIT press), 'Nouvelles de la Metropole Froide' (Centre Georges Pompidou) and 'Introduzione al Design Italiano' by Baldini & Castoldi, Milan.

Branzi has collaborated with many Italian architectural magazines such as 'Interni', 'Domus', 'Casabella'. He has also been the editor of MODO (1983-1987).

In 1983 he was one of the founders of the 'Domus Academy', the first international post-graduate school of design.

Branzi in 1987 obtained the prestigious Compasso d'oro Award for his practical and theoretical work in the design world.
