André Vos

Andre Vos (born 9 January 1975) was a back row forward who played rugby for Eastern Province(South Africa), Queensland Reds(Australia), The Cats(South Africa), The Lions(South Africa), Harlequins(England) and captained South Africa. Andre retired from professional rugby in the summer of 2007, a true rugby great. He is a born again Christian.
Andre graduated high school from Selborne College in East London, South Africa in 1992 and attended theUniversity of Port Elizabeth
He made is first provincial debut for Eastern Province in 1995.
In 1998 he played for the Australian Queensland Reds in the Super 12. But returned to South African shores to play for the The Cats in the Super 12 and for The Lions in the South African Currie Cup.
He made his international debut against Italy in Port Elizabeth on 12th June 1999 as a replacement. The final score was 74 -3, a win for the Springbok's. He was in the starting 15 for the next match in Durban. He was in and out of the starting 15 for the next eight test matches, starting in only 3.
After the IRB rugby World Cup in 1999 he took over the captaincy of South Africa from Joost van der Westhuizen
He went on to earn 33 test caps for South Africa, 16 as captain. He scored 5 tries for South Africa. His internation career was Played 33, won 18, drew 1, lost 14.
Andre retired in 2002, saying "Physically I am no longer up to Springbok rugby."
He captained Quins for three years until he resigned at the end of the 2005/6 season, when Paul Volley took over.
He was able to obtain a free transfer to England, as his wife Carol holds a British Passport.
He made his domestic debut for Eastern Province earning 35 caps. He has also represented South Africa in U21 and U23 level.
