Debry was born in Rosières-en-Santerre (Somme). He was a soldier in the First World War. After the war, he met his future wife Marguerite, who is 100, and married her on 12 August 1924 in Rosières-en-Santerre.
In 2005, André and Marguerite Debry were able to celebrate their 81st wedding anniversary, beating a record which up to that date had been held by a British couple. They both lived in Argenton-sur-Creuse until he died at age 107.
