Anderson Silva de França or simply Anderson de Silva or Anderson (born August 28, 1982 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian football (soccer) player who currently plays for Barnsley.

Anderson started his professional career in Uruguay. His performances earned him a move to Spain's La Liga with Racing Santander. He was then signed by Everton at the beginning of the 2005/06 season, bringing an end to a successful period at Racing.

However, after not being granted a work permit, the Brazilian midfielder was loaned to Málaga CF for 6 months initially which was later extended until the end of 2005/06 season, due to again, his failure to secure a work permit. Everton decided to work round this problem, by waiting until he was eligible for a Spanish Passport, and due to EU regulations, this made him eligible to work in Britain. He has now been granted a Spanish passport, and therefore is eligible to play football in England.

On December 11, Everton announced at their Annual General Meeting that there was a possibility that Anderson could join the club anytime within the next few weeks, now that the passport problems have been solved.

On December 19, 2006, Everton confirmed that Anderson had agreed terms on a "short term deal" after overcoming immigration issues.

Anderson made his Premiership debut on April 15, 2007 in a 2-1 victory over Charlton Athletic, he replaced Mikel Arteta with just 2 minutes of the game remaining.

He signed a new one year deal in summer 2007.

Anderson joined Coca Cola Championship club Barnsley on a short term loan deal in late August 2007. He has made several appearances for the Yorkshire club, impressing on most occasions with his passing range. It is believed the loan was decided after Barnsley played Everton in a behind closed doors friendly.

Anderson returned to Everton on September 22nd after Barnsley had beaten Southampton 3-2. Since his return to Merseyside, Barnsley have made enquiries to take him to Oakwell again on another loan deal. Barnsley have since been granted permission to take Anderson on another month's loan, before agreeing to sign Anderson permanently.

Anderson signed for Barnsley on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee on January 31, 2008.[1]
