Talk:Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
did anchorman really have a dream sequence? I don't think I've ever seen it and I've seen the movie at least 7 times. Perhaps in the extras or deleted scenes?
- yep - it's around the middle of movie when ron says he can't go to the pancake dinner with the guys. they are sitting around in the newsroom. The dream is of veronica at home doing the housework and they have two kids. johnSLADE (talk) 10:45, 16 August 2005 (UTC)
Really, I watched my DVD of Anchorman including all deleted scenes and found nothing about a dream sequence. Perhaps, it's in the director's cut, if there is one? I have this version of the DVD http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00061QJZI/qid=1124208125/sr=8-5/ref=pd_bbs_5/103-8715919-4599853?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846 The one with the wording at the top and a picture of the channel 4 news team (all 5), and the review by peter reavers of rolling stone at the bottom.
The "dream" sequence is only in the Widescreen Unrated Director's Cut. --Max22 05:35, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
Are you talking about the secne when he has sex with Veronica and they go to that place with the cartoon animals? The Republican 23:29, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
- No. As previously noted, there's an unrated cut of this film, which is both on DVD and is shown on cable (they seem to alternate between versions for some odd reason). The dream sequence is shown in the unrated cut. Also, I believe that in the direct-to-DVD "lost movie" cobbled together from cut scenes, WAKE UP RON BURGUNDY, this sequence is used. The "dream" scene consists of Ron coming home to Veronica dressed in a sexy-housekeeper outfit. She tellls him that she worked all day dusting his emmys and cooking dinner in the nude. Ron then looks to his school-age sons only to say "No eye contact" upon their reception of his presence.

[edit] Shit covered squirrel
What is wrong with a comic book reference? See this here:
- At the beginning of the film as Ron Burgundy dozes in the news room, Champ describes the after effects of the previous night's crazy party. Champ says to Brick, "I woke up this morning and I shit a squirrel. I mean, literally. Hell of it is, damn thing is still alive. So I got this shit covered squirrel down in the office. Don't know what to name it." This is a reference to Issue 59 of The Sandman Comic Book series, from The Kindly Ones story arc, where Loki has shoved a cork up Thor's fundament, and eight days later Ratatosk, the squirrel who lives in the branches of the world tree, pulls out the cork and becomes befouled by shit. Thor picks up Ratatosk and says, "You're ugly, you're hairy, and you're covered in shit. But you're mine, AND I LOVE YOU!"
If you know Sandman, you'll realize that it's a definite reference. The shit covered squirrel is completely absurd in Anchorman, and it's just as absurd in the Sandman. The parallels are so similar that it's almost definitely a reference to Neil Gaiman's work. And a damned good one. So can this be allowed to live in the Trivia section?
- I'm not well-versed in comics, but that reference seems rather obscure to me. Shitting a squirrel might be a reference to the urban legend of gerbil stuffing. Given Champ's homosexual tendencies, this seems likely. Nursethisviper 17:29, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
But no one participates in squirrel stuffing. The connection is that both situations, Champ's squirrel and Thor's squirrel, are absurd non sequitur moments. In each situation you have 1) a fondness for the squirrel 2) the supposed birth of the squirrel from the arse (Champ wants to name his squirrel, and Thor claims his squirrel as his own) 3) an incredibly dense fellow (Thor and Champ) and 4) the squirrel is described as covered in shit. 7 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Anchorman 2?
I heard Will Ferrell was working on a 3rd "Mediocre American Man" movie, but Anchorman 2? Unless someone can provide a credible source, I'll delete that. Comments? State Alchemist 19:23, 15 October 2006 (UTC)
- His next film (to complete the Mediocre American Man" trilogy) is, I believe, going to be about a porn star. I've never heard of anything about an ANCHORMAN 2. mcflytrap 15:24, 04 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Baxter
I'm not sure where the author got that from, but Baxter the dog is definitely not a Jack Russell terrier. My guess would be some sort of border terrier mix, but since no one can be sure, it would probably be best to leave that reference out.
[edit] Iceman
Quick Question.. Why does Tits McGee direct to this article??
because that was a name given to veronica by Ron. also ic ant recall any other tits mcgees
The name was first used by Adam Sandler's character in "Big Daddy." Nashvilleshark 22:02, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Cult Following
I think something should be added on the cult following that has been established for this film. its a film that has been taken to heart by thousands and is oft quoted
[edit] Character birth/death dates?
Where do they come from? I don't remember seeing them in the movie. --Cardinal biggles 02:13, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

- Standard procedure is to isolate quotes to Wikiquote. Baseball Bugs 17:23, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Jack Black
I'm pretty sure Jack Black was credited as 'motorcyclist'. 90.241.139.169 16:34, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Individual Character Pages
Based on the movie's popularity and the nuance's of each character, I think individual character pages would be very beneficial for the abundance of information on each character. Anyone opposed to this idea? --Endlessdan 17:30, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Plot
I think someone should add a description of the plot to this. --71.132.202.228 22:51, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Champ's Sexuality
Is Champ really gay, after all, he did try to touch Corningstone's breasts and flirt with her. Anonoymus 7:54, 15 January 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.240.87.143 (talk) 03:55, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- He's a closet case.--EndlessDan 16:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
I understand were you would get that, but he did it because he actually wanted to date her, not to prove he wasn't gay. Anonoymus, 3:00 20 January 2008
- You need to watch the 'lost movie'. Champ admits he is in love with Ron.--EndlessDan 13:27, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
The Lost Movie is an alternative film, not the true story. P.S Mabye he is bisexual. Anonoymus 3:03, 21 January 2008
[edit] Brick's Loving
What do you mean Brick "admits to loving several objects in the room?" He didn't really love those objects, he just said that he did because he didn't understand what love is. Gamer 5:47, 29 January 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.47.246.114 (talk) 01:48, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
- Just because he's retarded he doesn't know what love is? You f-ing racist.

That's not what I meant dumbass. He really didn't know what love is, watch the movie. I just suggested that the passage that said that "He admits to loving several objects in the room" sould be refraised. God, you don't have to be a dick. Gamer 9:22, 2 April 2008
