The Ancients (also known as Shoreham Ancients and Extollagers), were a group of English artists who were brought together by their attraction to archaism in art, admiration for the work of William Blake, and espousal of Christian and traditional society values[citation needed]. They met in Blake's apartment, dubbed the "House of Interpreter"[1] and at the home of Samuel Palmer in the Kent village of Shoreham.
