Ancient Ostra

Ancient Ostra was an ancient Roman city situated between the modern town of Ostra (AN) and Ostra Vetere in the region Marche, Italy.
It was inhabited from the 3rd century BC until the 6th century AD.

Ostra is little mentioned by ancient authors, but excavations there have brought to light remains of various buildings and several inscriptions. Pliny mentions with it another ancient town, Suasa, 5 miles west. Neither city survived the classical period.
