Anbaran (Persian: عنبران) is a small Iranian town situated approximately 17 miles north-northeast of Ardabil. The population consists of 9000 Talysh speakers. Anbaran’s map coordinates are 38.49N and 48.42E. The name of Anbaran is probably extracted from fragrant annual herbs named عنبر (‘ánbar in Persian). This plant is grown near to the joint frontier of Iran and Azerbaijan.
There is another Anbaran in Iran that is a suburb of Mashhad, in the extreme northeast of the country.
