Anbar military forces

Anbar military forces (Arabic:أفواج الأنبار العسكرية) , are militia forces with 62 thousand fighters founded by Anbar province tribal leaders to control of the cities of Anbar, they have been trained and armed in Jordan after discussions with the Jordanians on ways to make Anbar more secure. They had control of the cities in Anbar province during record time, and expelled the bandits, criminals, thieves, Al-Qaida, and Shiite militias.

U.S. forces found them effective on the ground, and American army commanders negotiated with Anbar tribal Sheikhs to then merge Anbar military forces into the Iraqi police.

As of today 24 thousand from 62 thousand has been merged into the Anbar police.
