[edit] Notability

An editor argues that all ambassadors are inherently notable under WP:BIO, as they qualify as politicians who have held international office. But is that what is meant by "held international office"? I think of the latter as meaning former officials of the United Nations or League of Nations. --Orange Mike | Talk 13:50, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

That's how I understand it as well. Javier Solana is automatically notable for his function (and he of course received loads of press). A random ambassador, even though it is an important fuction, is not automatically notable (and is not a politician of course, but a diplomat).Fram (talk) 14:02, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
