AN/PEQ-6

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The AN/PEQ-6 is a laser aiming module (LAM) designed for use with the Mark 23 pistol and other various pistols.

The device attaches via rails to the pistol, under the barrel, and creates a small laser dot very near the point of bullet impact (within certain ranges). It was developed in the 1990s under the Offensive Handgun Weapon System (OHWS) program run by USSOCOM.

One version of the LAM produces a visible light dot, while another produces infra-red light which can only be seen while wearing night vision goggles. The "official" SOCOM LAM is the one manufactured by Insight Technology ([1]).
