[edit] convictions

Can someone find the actual charge she was convicted of? (Maybe it's somewhere in "her own account" I added a link to — I didn't read the whole thing.) A Google search just turned up a million sites quoting Wikipedia articles (this one and 1992), most saying she was "convicted of shooting" Mary Jo. You can't be convicted of shooting someone. It's attempted murder or aggravated assault or some such thing. But I couldn't find was it was. - dcljr 07:06, 3 Sep 2004 (UTC)

According to this, she was indicted for "attempted murder in the second degree, criminal use of a firearm in the first degree, armed felony, assault, and other charges", but she plead guilty instead of being convicted. It doesn't say what the crime was she plead guilty to. -- Plutor 21:25, 8 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Can somebody please tell me what is the purpose of the re-direction of Joey Buttafuoco to the article of Amy Fisher? Thanks. JohanL

First, definitely agree with JohanL - Joey Buttafuoco should be separate. But also - does Amy Fisher really belong in the murderers category? She didn't actually kill Mary Jo Buttafuoco, even if she tried to. -Etoile 04:42, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

I agree! As far as I know, her "victim" is alive and well, but she is classified as a "murderer"! JohanL 05:10, 16 July 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Public Statements

Fischer recently made a public statement that was reported by several major networks. In it, she said that she "did not feel sorry for the bullet" in her victims head.

This is a verifiable comment and should be added to the article.

Correction. Apparently someone has added the comment to the article.

[edit] What happened

Amy Fisher, (born Amy Elizabeth Fisher, August 21, 1974), in September 1992, pled guilty to nonfatally shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco on the front porch of her Massapequa, New York home. Mary Jo's husband Joey Buttafuoco was convicted in 1993 of the statutory rape of Fisher, who was a minor at the time of the shooting. Amy Fisher was convicted of 'first degree assault' in the shooting. Her sentence began on December 8, 1992, and she was released on parole on May 10, 1999. She served 6-1/2 years in prison. Her parole was completed on February 26, 2003.

It is pretty unclear to someone who hasn't heard of Amy or the Burrafuocos what happened. The mention of statuatory rape after the shooting makes it seem immaterial, but wasn't that the motivation for the shooting?

Something more like the following, perhaps?

Amy Fisher, (born Amy Elizabeth Fisher, August 21, 1974), became sexually involved with Joey Buttafuoco at the age of (her age). Joey was married and suggested to Amy that he murder his wife. Amy's attempt was unsuccessful and in September 1992, she pled guilty to nonfatally shooting Mary Jo Buttafuoco on the front porch of her Massapequa, New York home. Mary Jo's husband Joey Buttafuoco was convicted in 1993 of the statutory rape of Fisher.

[edit] Birthplace sources

What sources were used to determine Fisher's place of birth? Currently, the article states that she was born in Caroline Springs, Melbourne, Australia, but NNDB says she was born in Long Island, New York. Would someone please WP:CITE their references for this? [edit] Merge needed

see also Talk:Joey Buttafuoco#Merge needed & Talk:Mary Jo Buttafuoco#Merge needed & Talk:Amy Fisher#Merge needed

The articles Joey Buttafuoco and Mary Jo Buttafuoco need to be merged, for the same reasons that the John and Lorena Bobbitt is only one article. I also think Amy Fisher should be merged with that merge, since she's non-notable on her own besides the crime. 24.126.199.129 14:31, 18 August 2006 (UTC).

The three articles could be merged into Long Island Lolita.
I disagree with the merge. Anchoress 20:27, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
I also disagree with the merge. Amy Fisher was not only involved with the Buttafuocos, but is also an author and award winning journalist. Also, the "Long Island Lolita" is a nickname, created by the press. It don't agree that this name be used as it would be difficult to be able to find for those unfamiliar with the nickname. I feel the article should stay listed under this individual's name. LateralusAD 22:32, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merging

I do not think Amy Fisher should be merged. For those people who are not familiar with Amy's story, it could be very difficult to find the article, especially if it is dubbed "Long Island Lolita." I was currently assigned a research paper on her, and if the page was called "Long Island Lolita," I probably would not have found it without some other research elsewhere.70.249.147.14 17:39, 22 November 2006 (UTC) Rebekah

[edit] Response to alleged copyright violation

User:rogerd has suggested that material I added to this article back in September 2005 was copied word-for-word from the [http:// amyelizabethfisher.com/bio.html amyelizabethfisher.com] website. That's not the case. I have never come across that website before today and, as far as I know, that website didn't exist back in September 2005. I certainly recognize the text that's on the Bio page of that website now because it's almost exactly word-for-word what I wrote for the Wikipedia page. They have copied the text of their Bio section from Wikipedia, not the other way around. My sources of information when I edited this article were another Amy Fisher website - www.amyfisher.com - which was alreday listed as an external link in this article before I edited it; and a few news articles I found on the web, most notably www.crimelibrary.com/notorious_murders/young/amy_fisher, which I added as an extra external link at this article at the time I edited it. Zaxem 10:17, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Per WHOIS entry for amyelizabethfisher.com, the entry of the text in question predates the existence of amyelizabethfisher.com. This is not a copyright violation. In fact, amyelizabethfisher.com is wrongfully asserting copyright to information that was obviously obtained from GDFL wikipedia. --rogerd 23:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
amyelizabethfisher.com is now blacklisted as one of >100 spam sites owned by the same spammer; see meta:Talk:Spam blacklist#110 more deep crosswiki spam domains for more details. --A. B. (talk) 02:00, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Amy Fisher My Story.jpg

Image:Amy Fisher My Story.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 21:22, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Father's Ethnicity

Amy Fisher's father is an American Jew and her mother is Italian American. If you feel factual information should not be included in this article, please discuss it before deleting. Graham Wellington (talk) 00:41, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

SOURCE: "Amy was fleeing her Jewish side (or at least in flight from her Jewish father) and seeking danger -- a walk on the wilder side of her Italian heritage -- with rough-talking, gangster-moll-manque Italian girlfriends and tough guy car culture."

There is a strong possibility my wiki-stalker,Brewcrewer, will try to vandalize this edit.
