Amy's Law (Georgia)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Amy's Law is a Georgia law inspired by the Amy Yates murder case. It permits greater latitude in felony sentencing after Yates' confessed murderer, under the Georgia juvenile law of the time, received a maximum 2-year sentence. Yates' first confessed murderer (Johnathon Adams) was subsequently freed upon a confession of a second suspect (Chris Gossett).
