  • What dose this document need to be kept? Is this simply stating that any document with only one source of reference cannot be published? I will add some sources to other wikipedia documents but I don't know if that will be enough to keep the page. Also, anyone that knows; I would like to be directed to the page that states the consensus for what qualifies as a valid reference as well as what qualifies a document to be supported enough to keep and when to delete a random page because there is no support in the way of citations and references. I did search the help pages but I could not find the actual document stating this. Please be kind, I am brand new! :) User:Nevet
  • The biggest concern right now is notability: Who are the Amulonites, and why are they significant? The second issue is that there are no secondary sources. It appears that the article consists entirely of quotes from the Book of Mormon. (Although, the last section may actually be original research.) Better would be to cite scholarly research and mention their conclusions about the Amulonites. (This also demonstrates that they're notable, since scholars have written on them!) —C.Fred (talk) 04:52, 18 August 2007 (UTC)

  • I am taking down the 5 day Deletion warining that states as its primary reason "composed entirely of bible references"
  1. The Amulonites played a pivotal role in the development of the story of the book of Mormon book Mosiah.
  2. I belive there is enough context and historical accuracy in the doument to warrent a page on it.
  3. There are many pages currently up on the wiki that would link to this page for explanation on a sub-group in the Book of Mormon.
  4. I do not believe that this document could be effectively merged into another document.
  5. I have offered some sources and will continue to reference others as I find them.

That being said, I understand the deletion policy to be set on the notability standards stating that secondary sources must be used. My question revolves around this itself. As this is a religious text, those that do reviews on this story would be mainly (or entirely) those that subscribe to the teaching of the faith. Would these sources be valid secondary sources? There are roughly 12 million members of this church but that is not a source of any kind. I could not find any true secondary sources on this specific story in the Book of Mormon outside of the members of this church. How dose one state that a religious text is of sufficient merit or notability to have pages published on it? Is there a consensus page on this? User:Nevet
I think the opening paragraph makes it clear that this is history according to the Book of Mormon and so is equivalent to articles about Bible stories found on Wikipedia. Adding [1] as a reference might help but taking down the deletion notice is fine with me. --NeilN 00:32, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Nevet, I think if you cited recognized scholars among the LDS church that have published works on the Book of Mormon you will meet the requirements of notability and reputable sources. If you need assistance with that, please let me know. --Storm Rider (talk) 06:40, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
