This is a nice looking template. Can we integrate a spot for a photo of the station, say at 200px? slambo 19:09, Dec 28, 2004 (UTC)

It could just go as part of the name field, like so:

Orlando
Station statistics
Address 1400 Sligh Boulevard
Orlando, Florida
Lines Silver Meteor - Silver Star - Sunset Limited
Connections Thruway Motorcoach service (see left)
Lynx bus #19
Other information
Owned by Amtrak

This solves the problem of placeholders showing up when there is no photo. --SPUI 21:41, 28 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Adding the image in the name field is counterintutive and unnecessary. The template should be easy for everyone to use. For that reason an optional image field is necessary. Cacophony 04:29, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Using this template

Parameters:

  • name – Station name, or "[[Image:...]]<br/>Station name"
  • address – Street address<br/>City, State
  • lines – list of services
  • other – bus services, etc.
  • code – 3-letter station code
  • owned – station owner name
  • lat, long – latitude and longitude params, see {{geolinks-US-streetscale-neutered}}

[edit] station image parameter

Lensovet, please discuss things before making a change like that to a highly used template. The image parameter is used on several pages with this template, and having it just disappear (especially with a flippant comment like "I don't believe it's used anywhere") is confusing and disruptive.

That being said, I would like to see a tweaked implementation of this parameter that actually hides itself when there is no image. --CComMack (tc) 10:11, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I modified the template to include all optional fields. And instead of requiring users to use <br> for the city name, I added a field for that as well. The bordering could look nicer (I ripped this style off from Template:Infobox Bridge). As the fields are optional, others can be added with affecting pages that do not use it. My apologies, the problem is that if no image was specified, you had stray text show up. Now that it's fixed, the end goal has been satisfied ;). Thanks Cacophony! Or rather, it works now; people, please, think conditional statements all the way through and check them... —lensovettalk – 18:38, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Optionality

Not all stations have "other service". Shouldn't this be an optional parameter?--MrFishGo Fish 19:40, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I've changed that and all the other parameters to be optional. Mackensen (talk) 18:14, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Coordinates

Since July this template hasn't actually done anything with the latitude and longitude parameters. This doesn't seem to be a problem, since most articles handle geocoding elsewhere now. I am, however, going to remove them from the sample template so that people don't add them to new articles. Mackensen (talk) 18:22, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

OK, but we should make sure that articles that had geocoding information don't lose it; if someone would like to help me go through the articles and see to it that {{coor title d}} or {{Geolinks-US-buildingscale}} is used as a replacement, that would be much appreciated. —CComMack (tc) 01:41, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
Certainly. Mackensen (talk) 17:31, 5 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Deprecated

Template:Infobox Station is stable, relatively, so I think we can safely deprecate this template. I'll change it to call Infobox Station; the replacements can be done later. Nothing should break. Mackensen (talk) 16:16, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
