[edit] A welcome from Andy Shen

Hi, Amsterdam, Welcome to Wikipedia!
I'm Andy Shen. I noticed that you were new and/or have yet to receive any messages so I just thought I'd pop in to say "hello". We're glad to have you in our community! I hope you like this place — I sure do — and want to stay. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it's so big but we won't bite so Be Bold and get what you know down in microchips! If you do make a mistake, that's fine, we'll assume good faith and just correct you: it'll take a few seconds maximum! Here, however, are a few links to get you started:

[edit] Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the 'pedia!

  • I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to see the help pages or add a question to the village pump. The Community Portal can also be very useful.
  • If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
  • You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
  • You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
  • If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
  • If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random page button in the sidebar, or check out the Open Task message in the Community Portal.
    • P.S. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you need help with anything or simply wish to say hello. :)

[edit] Happy Wiki-ing.

[edit] CONSISTENCY IN WIKI POLICIES

WRITTEN BY ADMIN. GRAEMEL:

"...As to claims of notability. If she writes regularly for a national newspaper, or has received a major journalism award (even one from a third world countries journalism comunity), that would count as notability. The fact that she is from a third world country has nothing to do with notability, something that makes her stand out from most of the other journalists is the same country would be enough. Nobel prizes are not required to be notable. Hope this helps..." --GraemeL (talk) 18:46, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Dutch Wikipedia article

OK, I saw your link to the Dutch article nl:Bea Vianen. Rather than post your stub back again, the best way to deal with it is to either translate the page to English yourself and post it here, or copy the text from the Dutch article and submit a request for translation here. If you go through requesting a translation, the article will be deleted if nobody is willing to translate it after two weeks. If you translate it yourself, the article probably already includes enough information to pass notability criteria, so you would avoid having it speedy deleted again. Hope this helps. --GraemeL (talk) 19:51, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

Ah, it 'is' a different person on closer inspection. Sorry, I don't read dutch :(. If you do speak Dutch and the other articles that you're thinking of posting already exist on the Dutch Wikipedia, you might want to try posting translations of them here instead of writing them again. I'm going to go eat now, but I'll search for some links on notability for you when I get back. --GraemeL (talk) 20:02, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

I see you created Bea(trice) Vianen with only a link to the Dutch article. Unfortunatly, articles that only contain a single external link are also likely to be deleted. If you want to work on a translation of the Dutch article, that would be fine, but just linking to it is not really an option. Also, adding the protection template to an article does not protect it, you need to be an admin to protect a page. Feel free to leave me more questions and I'll respond later. --GraemeL (talk) 20:06, 25 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Signa Vianen

Wees gerust, Amsterdam.

Aecis Mr. Mojo risin' 22:35, 26 December 2005 (UTC)
