Amrita Island is a small residential island within Squeteague Harbor in the village of Catumet in the town of Bourne, Massachusetts. Several residential homes are located on the island. Baxendale Road is the only road on the island and it connects the island to the mainland from off of Megansett Road.
Other than the stone bridge that connects the island to the mainland, the "Love is Eternal" house at the end of the island is the most impressive island feature. That name comes from the words over the door to the mausoleum built into the hill near the water in front of the house. Legend has it that the house was built for the owners wife, who's buried there. Supposedly, he built the house for her and some features --like the prominent spire-- were inspired by the Taj Mahal.
