Amrita Express

Amrita Express is an overnight express train run by the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways between Trivandrum Central railway station in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and Palghat Town railway station in Palakkad, Kerala.

Train number 6343 runs from south to north, departing Trivandrum Central at 2300 (11 p.m.) and reaching Palghat Town at 0800 (8:00 a.m.). On the return journey, the train number 6344 starts at 22:15 (10:15 p.m.) from Palghat Town and reaches Trivandrum Central railway station at 0640 (6:40 a.m.). It is one of the fastest trains running overnight in Kerala.

The train has general Second Class sitting coaches, second class three-tier sleeper coaches, and an air-conditioned two-tier sleeper coach. This train is ideal for travel from Trivandrum/ Kollam to Thrissur / Palakkad areas and vice-versa.

The stops of the train are: Trivandrum Central, Varkala, Quilon Junction, Karunagapally, Kayamkulam Junction, Mavelikkara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Changanassery, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Idapalli, Alwaye (Aluva), Trichur (Thrissur), Shoranur Junction, Ottapalam, Palghat Junction, Palghat Town. Now Indian Railways have decided to extend this train to Mettupalayam of Coimbatore District.
