Amka |
Amqa is a former Palestinian Arab village located 11km north of the city of Acre in the Galilee. Its population was 1,240 in 1945 and its total land area was over 6,000 dunums. The village was captured by Israel's Sheva Brigade on July 16, 1948 during Operation Dekel, an Israeli offensive in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. In 1949 the village was settled by Yemenite Jews and was renamed Amka.
