From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Amphimacer is the name of a poetic foot of 3 syllables or accents: long-short-long. An example is the first three words of the St. Louis Blues--"Got the Saint"--see how the accents or longer sounds are on "Got" and "Saint" and the shorter accent is on "the"?
Amphimacer is the name I've taken in Wikipedia, because I am a student of poetry for many years, and very interested in the relation of music and words, also in writing. Amphimacer 20:31, 26 November 2005 (UTC)
