Prachawit School, located in the heart of Lampang, is a Chinese school with a long history in the community. What most people are not familiar with is the treatment towards their international staff. From promising a certain salary, paid holidays, and/or accomodation, the staff, in particular the principle of the international programme, would promise foreign teachers the moon and the sky in order to get them to work there. They would make you sign a contract in a foreign language, would not provide you with a copy for yourself in your native language and tell you "this is only for visa purposes. You will be provided with an English copy in a couple of weeks". In addition, if given a copy in Thai, after constantly insisting, do not think you can count on this document for future reference regarding your responsabilities, date of contract, or benefits. In addition, the awkward working atmosphere among the western staff and the Chinese staff is mainly rooted in the principle's animosity's for the Chinese culture. This principle's inability to reach out and bring together a staff that would otherwise benefit a great deal from such a relationship, it's just plain inexcusable. The point of working abroad, in particular at an international programme, is to learn from each other's cultures, not quite the opposite. Please don't be sway to work in such place. You would be highly dissapointed.
