AWM Caption: RABAUL, NEW BRITAIN. 1945-09-14. NUMEROUS TYPE 2 KA-MI AMPHIBIOUS TANKS CAPTURED AT RABAUL. RIGHT SIDE VIEW SHOWING NUMBERS ON THE TURRETS AND WITHOUT FLOTATION PODS AFFIXED (PODS AT FRONT AND REAR JETTISONED ONCE ON LAND). THESE JAPANESE LIGHT TANKS ARE BEING GUARDED BY TROOPS OF 37/52 INFANTRY BATTALION WHO ARE OCCUPYING THE AREA FOLLOWING THE SURRENDER OF THE JAPANESE. THE TANKS ARE IN THE AREA BETWEEN LAKUNAI AIRSTRIP AND RABAUL TOWNSHIP. The copyright has expired on this image.
