[edit] Edit summaries

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary text box

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. -- JHunterJ 17:14, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Zombie apocalypse

Hi there! Welcome to Wikipedia! I just wanted to thank you adding some citations to reliable sources over at at Zombie apocalypse. I've heavily edited the page since then, to make it more in line with the Wikipedia:Manual of Style, but that was a good start! I did remove the list of steps from The Zombie Survival Guide, since that appeared to be copied verbatim. That's a potential copyright violation, and the list really wasn't very encyclopedic. As people are fond of saying around here, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information. We're focused on creating an encyclopedia, not just collecting information. If you have any questions, feel free to ask on my talk page, or at the Wikipedia:Help Desk. Cheers! —DragonHawk (talk|hist) 23:38, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Neo-Gothic art movement

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Neo-Gothic art movement, by Mdwh, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Neo-Gothic art movement fits the criteria for speedy deletion for the following reason:

Does not assert notability, and the term seems to be a neologism - some guy writing a manifesto on a website does not make it an art movement. We already have goth subculture to cover this movement, including associated art.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Neo-Gothic art movement, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Neo-Gothic art movement itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 23:14, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Lorna Simpson

The Lorna Simpson article was about to be deleted, so I filled it out. One of my goals is to improve WP's representation of black visual artists and help improve our systemic bias. Thank you for starting the stub. Feel free to come by and add more or make suggestions. --Knulclunk 04:51, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Pyroterrorism

Pyroterrorism, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Pyroterrorism satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pyroterrorism and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Pyroterrorism during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. • Lawrence Cohen 05:43, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pyroterrorism

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Pyroterrorism, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. --stephenw32768<user page><talk> 15:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button Image:Wikisigbutton.png located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 15:28, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reply

Of the 5 sources currently found in pyroterrorism, 1 of them appears in a book title, 2 of them are blogs (which are generally not considered reputable sources according to WP:RS), and 2 of them do not use the term at all. So, the article has one source, you will have to find more than that if you want the article to be kept.

Also, a neologism simply means it is a recently coined term. Obviously, even for a recently coined term, there will be some small number of uses. However, that does not justify an article. What is there to say about pyroterrorism that won't fit into either arson or terrorism? Johntex\talk 04:55, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

  • Our normal policy, if one disputes a deletion, is not to simply re-create the article, as you have done. Instead, it is to take the article to Deletion Review. I have taken the article there for you; please join in the discussion [1] if you wish. Best, Johntex\talk 05:09, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pyroterrorism DRV

An editor has asked for a deletion review of pyroterrorism. Since you were substantially involved in contributing to the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Jreferee t/c 15:28, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Never mind. I see that you already received a notice. -- Jreferee t/c 15:29, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
