Amoud University

Amoud University is a university located in Borama. It was officially inaugurated on November 4th, 1998. It is the first post-war institution of higher learning to be established in the northwestern Somaliland region of Somalia. The initiative of establishing a university at the famous valley of Amoud was taken by a group of Awdalian intellectuals living and working in the Gulf states. Now, the university has six functioning faculties:

  1. School of Business and Public Administration
  2. Faculty of Education
  3. Faculty of Information Technology
  4. Faculty of Medicine
  5. Faculty of Agriculture
  6. Faculty of Law and Islamic Sharia
  7. faculty of engineering technolagy

The student population of the university now exceeds 1700, with high attendance by female students. Students come not only from the Somaliland region, but as far as Bosaso, Beletwein, Mogadishu and Kismayo in the southern part of Somalia.
