Amores (Lucian)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Erōtes or Amores ("Loves", or "The two kinds of love") is a Greek dialogue, an example of contest literature, comparing the love of women and the love of boys, preferring the latter. The same subject is treated in the Amatorius of Plutarch, but with a different conclusion. The dialogue is transmitted among the works of Lucian, but the authorship is contested by most modern scholars on the basis of the style. Therefore, the work is normally cited under the name of Pseudo-Lucian. The Erōtes is also famous for its vivid description of the Cnidian Aphrodite of Praxiteles.
