[edit] Done Instaview
It isn't a huge bug, but if you have Pilaf's InstaView in your monobook, the application lags a lot and an error message pops up every time you change pages. _-M o P-_ 15:35, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
- What version of IE do you have installed? InstaView doesn't work with 5 and below so that might be triggering it. Also, what version of Java are you using? Do the error messages say something to the extent of "document.getobjectbyid(...) is null"? AmiDaniel ( Talk) 02:34, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Problems (Watchlist, RC, Contribs, RB Malfunction)
I just tried VandalProof, and encountered the following problems:
- Couldn't get the "My watchlist", "Recent Changes" and "User Contribs" tabs to list anything.
- I tried Rollback + {{test1-n}} option. It issued a warning message to the IP, but didn't rollback.
Hopefully, I'm doing something wrong that can be easily corrected (as opposed to there being a bug in the code that's hard to trace.) Regards, deeptrivia ( talk) 03:48, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
PS: Also, could VandalProof be made to leave edit summaries for all its edits? deeptrivia ( talk) 03:53, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- I might be able to the core of it, but if you could please answer a few questions: 1) What OS are you running? 2) What version of IE are you running? 3) What Wikipedia skin are you using? 4) What other scripts/tools are you running? 5) Are you using Enhanced Recent Changes (that will cause VP's RC to malfunction)? and 6) How did you install the tool (saving the.exe or using the cab)? VP actually does (or should) leave edit summaries for all of its edits, so if it didn't for you, that's another bug. P.S. I hope you don't mind that I moved this up to bugs; I'm just trying to keep things organized. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 05:05, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

- Win XP SP 2
- 6.0.2900.2180 etc etc. The latest full release, basically.
- Monobook
- None
- Never heard of it, so I guess not
- I used the full installer, this is my first time using the tool.
- Any help appreciated :) Soo 23:46, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
- Aha, problem solved. Is Enhanced Recent Changes on by default? I don't remember enabling it. Anyway I turned it off and now all is cool. Sorry for the confusion. Soo 19:04, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done adding approved users
Just a wee bug for when you return from your break (not earlier!!) Seems VP when you approve a user will clear the entire list of those waiting approval instead of just the approved user. Thanks mate - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 06:12, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
- I assume you're referring to this diff. What happened there was that there was no line break between the two names, so it merely listed the first name in the awaiting approval list, and when you approved one user it assumed the list was empty. I'll stick a note on that section later on (you may have noticed that any notes, etc., placed in that list get lost with the next list update), and I'm sorry about that. I sure don't understand why it's so difficult for users to put their names in the right format... AmiDaniel ( Talk) 22:55, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
- Easiest way would be to add an * to the front of the {{user2 | YOUR_USERNAME}} instructions so it reads: *{{user2 | YOUR_USERNAME}}. I did do this but yes the update reverted it which is no prob:) - Gl e n T C (Stollery) 23:01, 1 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Moderator update is not working
Updates to Commen problems by me, are not showing up when I go to double check the program output. Frankly I havent a clue... unless it is not recognizing me as a moderator...(how that can be I'm not sure as I can access mod tools as I type). Have fun with this new buggie... I have more when the new version comes out. Eagle talk 08:09, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, I did a null edit to reset the page to your version. It appears to be because of the space; I think I've fixed it in my version, but I'm not quite sure. I tested the mods out with User:AmiDaniel TestAccount (which has a space) earlier and had no problems, but for some reason Wikipedia renders the space in your user name as a space rather than an underscore when linking to your userpage... strange... AmiDaniel ( Talk) 08:21, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- Gee, all the modern programming apps and we still get bugs from formatting...great:-).

[edit] Done Not Reverting
Alright. I have a problem here. When I use vandaproof, I am able to log in and edit normally fine... but when I hit any of the rollback buttons, it doesn't revert. anyone know why?-- A c1983fan ( talk • contribs) 19:18, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- This is usually the result of not having popups installed, but I see you already have it in your monobook. Try doing a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5) and try again. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 20:59, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- I tried that, but it didn't make a difference. for some reason, the edit simply saves the latest version, creating a null edit which is not added to the history.-- A c1983fan ( talk • contribs) 22:05, 6 May 2006 (UTC)

- (edit conflict again) Well, you have to be using some version of IE. Go to Start/Run, and type in "iexplore". Then goto Help / About Internet Explorer, and get back to me with the version number. Also, what Wikipedia skin are you using? (It should be set to monobook) Also, try clicking this link, and tell me if it reverts the page. Thanks. AmiDaniel ( Talk) 22:19, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

Ok, you do you have IE on your computer, you need that because VandalProof uses IE's cookies. Get IE and your problem is fixed:-) Check your preferences and make sure enhanced recent changes is off. Good luck Eagle talk 22:15, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Windows User Permissions
Hey AmiDaniel, I just installed 1.2 (not moments ago), and it seems that running under plain User permissions, I get a Runtime error '75' "Path/File access error" after the "You have sucessfully logged into VandalProof as Charlie Huggard" message displays. The error does not happen running under Administrator permissions, but it would be nice if I could use the tool under plain User permissions (I don't trust IE enough to allow anything using IE to run with Administrator rights). Like the Bad Title error, I'll note that I'm running Windows XP SP2, IE7 (can't get rid of the cursedthing >_<), and Full Control has been granted to the normal user to the VandalProof directory and all sub files. Regards Charlie(@CIRL | talk) 03:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Problem noted. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to look into this tomorrow, as I suddenly have things to take care of in the real world right now. My apologies, but thanks for reporting the problem. AmiDaniel ( talk) 03:29, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Runtime error
Right - When I first loaded the program (1.2), I got JS script errors everytime recent changes was refreshed. I went to the Watchlist tab and told it to retrieve, at which point I had a fatal runtime error and it closed. Now whenever I use it, I get non-fatal runtime errors on both watchlist and on every recent changes refresh. Ian13/talk 10:53, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
You need to do a hard refresh of your monobook.js file in internet explorer. That should fix your problem. Tarret 14:12, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Damn, I thought I fixed this problem, but it doesn't seem to be the case. Try the temporary fix at the top of this page--it's not a particularly elegant solution, but it seems to work. I may have to build that in if I can't find a better way to fix it--I understand how frustrating it must be. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:31, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Right. This works fine when I blank my monobook. It seems likely that this problem is caused by some dodgy JS (I did just upgrade to 1.2.1 too). If this is the case, then it may be worth taking a look at my JS to find out whats wrong for fixing/to note it/add a catcher to the program. Thanks! Ian13/talk 13:37, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Doing that now...Eagle talk 02:47, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- Appears to be fine... but you have a very large monobook. I suggest removing some of the functions in there that you don't use. (I noticed that VP has problems with monobook functions that change the appearnce of the edit box(window). For sure the toolbar tab changers that you have in there are ok. The rest I don't have time to read through sorry!Eagle talk 02:51, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

- I seem to be getting the same problem. Except mine says something about Instaview. I used to have it, but then I got rid of it in my monobook.js. [edit] Done Multiple warnings for one edit
One problem that I have noticed is that if a user makes an edit, and multiple VandalProof users notice it and revert it all at the same time, only one actually does the revert but all give warnings. One example is old version of user's page at the point when the user had made only one edit. —Mets501talk 02:25, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've been aware of this problem for some time but am not entirely sure how to fix it. One thought that I had was that when posting a warning, it could search for a link to the diff that was just reverted (as VP warnings always contain a diff), and if the same diff is found, it would not post the warning. That, of course, would only work to prevent multiple VP warnings, but I think it's a start. Let me think on it a bit, and I'll see if I might be able to implement something. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
Make VP check and see if the user made an edit, by reloading the history after the revert. It will slow it down marginally and the gain is well worth it. Eagle talk 02:35, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ummm, no. I think the slow down is far more than marginal, and I'd rather have a few additional warnings than have everything lag even more. I think checking for the diff will likely suffice, or, if I feel really determined, I might try to work something out with timestamps. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:38, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Run-time error 13
When trying to import blacklists/whitelists I get "Run-time error '13' type mismatch" I get the error when selecting it from the dropdown menu, and Im on 1.2 Is this only me? Is there a way to fix it? Clq 17:45, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hm .. just wondering, how many users do you have in your local whitelist/blacklist? Looks like another instance of this that I forgot to trap. If you simply add one user to your whitelist and one to your blacklist and then click it, it should work. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:25, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I tried again with three users on my whitelist and loads of IPs + two usernames on my blacklist, and it still gives me the same error. Clq 08:22, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Question. Rollback (Custom)
This bug manifests itself whenever a user has made multiple changes to a page. If I try to issue a custom rollback, VP prompts me to review all of their changes. If I choose yes, VP does not do anything. --Alphachimp talk 17:52, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
- Okay, let me look into it. The custom rollback is a little bit awkward because it operates from an external private routine contacting a private routine in another module, and so it's possible that certain variables aren't being passed right. An easy solution would be that when you see the same user has edited the page, right-click on a rollback button (to load a diff between the current revision and the last revision by the previous author) and then use custom rollback. A little messy but it works. AmiDaniel (talk)
- That's what I've been doing. I just figured that I would give you the heads up on the issue. Thanks for all of your hard work on VP. --Alphachimp talk 02:27, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Big Pages and VP
Whenever I click on big pages (Golf, Oprah Winfrey to name a couple) it seems to freeze for a minute, then it comes up. It would be nice if it could process the large pages without having a delay.
--AndreniW 03:19, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- that is because it loads the preview with the diff and it is being worked on. ILovePlankton ( L) 03:38, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- I understand that, but it doesn't take this long when manually doing RC Patrol. --AndreniW 04:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- It's possibly to do with the inbuilt IE control - what browser do you normally use? --Xyrael T 18:31, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
This is something that's annoyed the hell outta me as well, and so I'm now reworking it to (optionally, of course) retrieve RC from the RSS-feed, meaning that clicking on an item will load it immediately, though you will only see a plain-text diff without the preview. I've also now implemented a precached rollback that works twice as fast (and that by default reverts all edits by the on-top contributor). I guess this will probably be v1.3, and it's probably going to be a while (at least a couple of weeks) before I can release it, but it is suhweet :-). AmiDaniel (talk) 21:07, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Barney & Barney & Friends
This is very strange. This is how the disambiguation article was on April 19 as 131.162.154.31 restored the deleted material. The next edit by Computerjoe with VP here is very strange as VP inserted the material from Barney & Friends. Also neither of the IP's (68.60.182.219 & 70.241.90.252) in the summary had edited the Barney article. Now look at this where I roll back the Barney & Friends article. Note that the two IP's are the same as that listed by VP. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- But in the examples you show it's just an odd edit summary and the reversion is OK. In this case an entire article (Barney & Friends) overwrote another (Barney). CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 16:56, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- I did an experiment: I vandalized Barney & Friends, then VandalProof reverted Barney. After that, I had to revert both of those by hand. So, instead of reverting vandalism, it made more vandalism. --GeorgeMoney T·C 18:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Gahh... the damn ampersands again. I think I now have this sorted out in my local copy--it happens because of a bad stacking order in my html-ascii conversion routine. I'll put up a patch ASAP. AmiDaniel (talk) 21:02, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- This also happened to me. A pornographic image was placed on Barney & Friends, I tried to revert using VandalProof (twice). The vandal then mocked me on my user talk page, since it didn't work. I reverted it using Popups. After reading this info, I then went and reverted my inadvertent vandalism of Barney. Ted 02:43, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

- Some of us have all the luck. I'm sure the vandal knew of the bug and was waiting for some hapless VP user. I guess you can't get any more hapless than me. This is STILL happening--the & problem. It is 16 June, more than a "couple of days" from June 4. You done this several times, say you'll put a patch or new feature up in a few days and not do it. I'd much prefer a more realistic time prediction on these things. Rlevse 00:09, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
I also accidentally crapped all over Barney (many thanks to CambridgeBayWeather for pointing it out to me; predictably enough, I didn't notice it myself). Guess I'd better be sure to refrain from using VandalProof on any article with an ampersand on the title, until it gets fixed... -- Captain Disdain 20:39, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Runtime error 76
As soon as I get to the "You have successfully logged in" page, I get an error that says
Runtime error '76': Path not found
And VandalProof immediately exits as soon as I click OK. I did a hard refresh on my monobook.js, deleted my files in IE, and made sure I was logged in, but I still get that error.--Donbert 10:36, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Rollback
I am having a problem with the rollback feature. If I attempt a rollback, Vandalproof will sometimes ask whether I want to reverse all changed by this particular user. So far so good. But if I then press "Yes", Vandalproof roll back to the next IP user ignoring any changes made by logged-in users in between, i.e. if I press rollback I will revert those changes as well. E.g. : The Break-Up When I wanted to revert the changes by 66.43.140.33 Vandalproof wanted to revert back to the version by 205.206.30.148, completely ignoring the cleanup by Empty2005. Travelbird 13:52, 3 June 2006 (UTC) I should add that this problem only appears when there were multiple edits by an anonymis user, if there was only one, then rollback works fine. Travelbird 13:55, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, that's not good. I'm guessing your browser (which version of IE do you use by the way?) may be rendering the history pages strangely. I had some problems with this a while ago, but I thought I fixed it. In the next (or perhaps after-next) version, I'll have everything working with Wiki API which is a lot more consistent than screen scraping, but until then, please just try to be careful with it. Sorry about the inconvenience, but thanks for letting me know. AmiDaniel (talk) 03:01, 4 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Persistent Crash @ Startup
Today I decided to get into VP after a few weeks off. I tried to log on, but I'm getting a persistent crash whenever I get to the welcome screen. In somewhat of an ironic twist, the welcome screen (which I am unable to click) gives a link to a workaround for this problem.
I have reinstalled 4-5 times and restarted this computer.

- Good to see I'm not the only one. Any ideas? --Alphachimp talk 05:11, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
The crash is actually resulting from popups--as you may have already noticed popups and Internet Ixplorer don't get along very well. A simple fix would be to remove popups from your monobook.js, which I couldn't live without; thus, I just put up with an occasional crash. You can also try clearing your IE tifs and cookies, which may help somewhat, or I have a little diddy I could e-mail you to disable startup rendering, which will stop the crash altogether. Note that because of this bug, I've now completely reworked the log-in method for VP 1.3 to fix it, which you can find out more about at User:AmiDaniel/VP/Upcoming release. Thanks for your patience; this bug's been around since the very beginning. AmiDaniel (talk) 21:01, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

- Yep, this is one that I've fixed in 1.3, another stacking order bug in the html conversions. I'll probably put out a 1.2.2 patch sometime soon to repair this and the ampersand bug. Thanks for your patience, and sorry about the inconvenience. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:54, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done All contributions before rolling back
When using the normal rollback buttons at the top of the page, when it says "would you like to see all contributions by this user before rolling back", if you click OK, it shows you all of that user's contributions. When using the custom message warning box, however, the "would you like to see all contributions by this user before rolling back" dialog box still appears but if you click OK nothing happens. Also, sometimes on pages in the User: space when showing all contibutions to a page by a particular editor, and the editor before that editor was the person whose user page it is, it reverts back to the last change on the page not by the user who owns the user page, but the editor before that. For example if 000.000.000.000 edits User:Foo, and the contributions list is 000.000.000.000, 000.000.000.000, 000.000.000.000, Foo, Foo, 111.111.111.111, it will revert back to the version by 111.111.111.111 when rolling back instead of the more recent version by User:Foo. —Mets501 (talk) 20:53, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
- The former bug I'm still working on fixing (it got reported somewhere up above, can't remember where though), and the latter is one that I've now repaired in 1.3 with the help of Yurik's query API interface. Thanks for reporting it! AmiDaniel (talk) 20:57, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Reporting a page for speedy deletion recreates it
I just ran into a user using vandalproof recreating a page that I had just deleted: [2] The sequence of evens was:
- Keanu2 creates page
- Mr. Lefty tags page with {{unreferenced}} tag
- I delete it
- Alphachimp recreates it by tagging it for speedy deletion
- I delete it again
No biggie, really, but it's a bug, nonetheless -Obli (Talk)? 19:42, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's quasi an edit conflict--in the split second between when he loaded at the page and clicked {{db}}, you deleted it. I've run into this before myself, and I think I know how to prevent it in the future. Thanks for your note. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:37, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
Question. If status is fixed or done, please update the title bar thanks! —— Eagle (ask me for help) 22:38, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Problem with subpage reverts.
Whilst browsing, I attempted to revert blanking on Wikipedia:Requested articles/Applied arts and sciences/Transport, but vandalproof attempted to rollback Wikipedia:Requested articles:Applied arts and sciences:Transport (which doesn't exist). It looks like a problem with subpages. --GW_Simulations|User Page | Talk | Contribs | E-mail 20:32, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- See #Rollback_bug_in_1.2 above. This is a stacking order problem in the html-ascii conversion routines, similar to the problem with ampersands. I'm going to put out a very minor patch for this soon. AmiDaniel (talk) 20:35, 16 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks. --GW_Simulations|User Page | Talk | Contribs | E-mail 22:06, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Watchlist and Changes
All the articles in the watchlist listinghave a ? after them and it loads pages like this. As you can see there are two ? there, which is the source of the problem. If you remove the extra ? it works correctly. --mboverload@ 23:18, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- Having the same problem. Not sure where the extra question mark is coming from, but it's screwing up the functionality of VandalProof in several ways. -Big Smooth 23:21, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm getting it too. The devs changed yet another thing on me without any goddamn warning at all--why is it so difficult for them to just simply say "Hey, by the way, we're making changes to the watchlist!" Looking into it, and please, this is not an urgent problem. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:24, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

They stuck a ‎; after the watchlist item for some reason, an item which is not being recognized by VP, thus why it is rendering as a question mark. Fixing it, please hold your horses people. AmiDaniel (talk) 23:27, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Edit/article lists omitted
Can you help figure out why VP isn't appearing to do anything?
Right now I'm logged in, click "recent changes" and nothing appears. What should I try next? Thanks.
- Edit: It was the "enhanced recent changes" issue. Suggestion for next version of VP: check that setting and if it's on, alert "VP is not compatible with the script used for Enhanced Recent Changes. Do you want to disable this preference so that VP will work? [yes / no]" FT2 (Talk | email | contribs) 09:41, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
What about a warning that doesn't check preferences. Instead if nothing's loaded on updating a list, it pops up a message saying "none found, this may be because....."?
Sadly it also appears there are other things I need help to get working right.
- For example, clicking an item on watchlist persistently gets a URL like this:
- URL = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jkelly??diff=cur&oldid=prev
and a message: The database did not find the text of a page that it should have found, named "User talk:Jkelly (Diff: 0, 0)".
- URL = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Jkelly??diff=cur&oldid=prev
- Also, clicking an item on RC sometimes pops up a URL like this:
- URL = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mb_Marengo_County,_Alabama??diff=cur&oldid=prev
and a message "Mb Marengo County, Alabama ... Wikipedia does not have an article with this exact name"
- URL = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mb_Marengo_County,_Alabama??diff=cur&oldid=prev
- Other times it does find the article, but displayes the current article rather than a diff (which I assume it's supposed to show?):
- Finally, user contribs refuses to list for any user.
Sorry to dump these on you... maybe you've seen them before and know what some of them relate to? FT2 (Talk | email | contribs) 10:07, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Error with VP ( or me) in adding speedy tag
Tried to {{db-attack}} Nic Wells, VP created new article Nic Wells&oldid=59970792 and tagged that one leaving the original article untouched. I made the mistake of having a non-current version open - Peripitus (Talk) 14:04, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I need to fix that. What happens is it tries to open "/w/index.php?title=Foobar&oldid=Oldid", and since Foobar no longer exists and Oldid no longer exists it tries to create "Foobar&oldid=Oldid". I can fix this by simply querying the page for MediaWiki:Newarticletext when posting templates, should fix it. Thanks for letting me know; someone else had a similar problem a while ago. Whenever I click the "Sort Stub" option, this appears: [4]. After clicking "OK", the application closes. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 17:11, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Getting around the error messages problems
I am using Opera with a lot of scripts that IE does not support. So when I run VandalProf, even with v1.2.2 I need to use that extra CloseScriptErr.exe to block the errors. Of course you could delete your scripts and then revert them after you've done with VP. But there is an easier way - I worked out a way to block off scripts for IE while they would still work with Opera (I think it should work with Firefox, etc, also).
var detect = navigator.userAgent.toLowerCase(); var IE; var place = detect.indexOf('msie') + 1; if (place) IE=true; if (!IE) { ... your scripts go here ... }
Works like a charm for me.--Konstable 02:35, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Will be moved to FAQ in near future. Thanks —— Eagle (ask me for help) 17:28, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Using VP
When I try to use VP, first it says I am not logged in. I visit the login page, login successfully, at which point I am given two runtime errors (which I do not experience when logging in directly through IE) and another error, at which point the browser section of the interface is white. If I try and visit the main WP page (Main_page), I receive the two runtime errors, have the page displayed, and immediately I receive the same third error message, at which point the browser object wipes the page and is white again. Any suggestions? I'm a fairly experienced dev so give me a complicated explanation if you have one. --Draicone (talk) 07:05, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- Have you tried logging in plus cookie'ing your login from a normal IE window, then booting VP? It's been known to work. —Xyrael / 20:12, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've tried that, and that lets me login at least but all the buttons are still disabled (although the captions along the top seem to have changed). Now as I write this from within VP, I get a yellow bar at the top saying 'AmiDaniel has received no vandalism warnings.' but I still don't seem to be able to do anything. I'm not getting those runtime errors (or haven't yet at least, I'm yet to recreate a situation in which I know I used to get them) so I may try restarting VP, trying a combination of IE settings etc. --Draicone (talk) 07:05, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- What version are you using? v1.2.2 is the most current, although 1.3.0 will be released shortly. That may fix this for you. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fixed Bot flag
Using VP 1.2.2, VP doesn't seem to be picking up the bot flag in the RC feed (which is a bold "b" before the page name, just like the m for minor and N for new pages). It listed the page as "b Pagename" and clicking the edit takes you to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/b_Pagename?diff=cur&oldid=prev
(which obviously won't exist). It's no biggie since there's nto really any need to check bot edits anyway, but it's a bug (for me) none-the-less. :) --james // bornhj (talk) 15:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done New VP User with problem
I've now got vandal proof 1.2.2, thank you, which says welcome and shows 1.2.2 and my name at the top left, but it keeps telling me I can't use that version and to upload a newer one? (NB: I start VP then login within the page shown). However before I can do anything it switches to the User page. but repeats the newer version warning. All the tabs above are inactive. I have just gone into it for the first time when the tabs were active and it actually came up and did something? I pressed update and it showed a list of items in the top left box, one of which was this:-
[:http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:STOP_MAKING_NAMES_IN_BINARY_YOU_STUPID_FUCKTARDS%21%21%21%21111%21%21&action=edit]
I clicked on the item within that box and a heavily vandalised talk / history page flashed up and in the space bar above a yellow bar with the wording no Admin warnings have been given, or something like that, quickly flashed on and off. Then the whole page / programme locked up. Is it prone to do things like that or am I doing something wrong? I use Firefox. Richard Harvey 08:35, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
