[edit] Done.zip needed
your newest version does not have the.zip attached to the end of it. it is VandalProof when it should be VandalProof.zip
- The fix is to simply rename adding.zip to the end of the file. Eagle talk 02:38, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Failure to notify of v 1.2
Why didn't I get a notice v 1.2 was available? I first noticed it on a friends talk page. Rlevse 20:48, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- AmiDaniel was having problems with this... I'm sure he has a good reason:-), at minimun I made sure that the Startup page for VandalProof notified you:-)Eagle talk 21:32, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I was right in the middle of posting the messages when something came up that I had to deal with--I think I stopped right around PS2pcGAMER. It's nothing personal--you just should have picked a username that was higher up the alphabet :-). AmiDaniel (talk) 22:14, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Moderator Glittch
Something with the new mod tools makes it when it updates it doubles a copy of every person on the page. (I.E. instead of 1 entry per person, now there were two entries, than 4 entries... I notified all mods who were on duty, and posted a notice on the startup pgae, podego reverted all the glichy changes. Just have a look at the edit history of the startup page, and you will understand exactly what happend. (I also put a notice on the regestration page, so that those waiting to approved will understand the problem.Eagle talk 21:39, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- No, this isn't a bug in the new version. What happened is the section in which the user list was got changed (somewhere another section or two got added), and no one updated "USERIN:" below. It can read the list just fine without that being set right, but it will write the list back to whatever section is specified there; thus, it read the list once and rewrote it to the below section, then read it again (now twice as many names), and wrote twice as many names to the below section, and on and on it goes. You'll see I just approved a user without any problem [1]. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:10, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Won't update list of recent changes
When I click update, I'm getting the same list over and over. This happened after several occurrences of closing the program and re-opening it. I am now going to re-download and install VP to see if the problem still exists. I will report back in a few minutes after the process is complete. --Zpb52 00:29, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Nope. Still doing it. Is there a .txt or .dll file that is corrupted perhaps? --Zpb52 00:31, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Neither will it import my Watchlist. --Zpb52 00:48, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to guess this is an Internet Explorer cookie problem. Check that IE is not set to "Working Offline." Also, have you made any recent changes to your Internet Explorer settings, including privacy settings, content settings, parental controls, cookie settings, etc. You might also try deleting your cookies and temporary internet files. If you pop open a separate instance of IE and go to recent changes or your watchlist, you'll probably find that the same thing is happening even outside of VandalProof. I hope this helps, and if it doesn't, get back to me and I may have a few other ideas. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:19, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yep, that fixed it. I don't know how anything could have messed up my IE cookies. I normally use Firefox for everyday surfing. VP is the only reason I have to use IE. --Zpb52 04:59, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, I had something like this happen a while ago. It really freaked me out--whenever I went to edit a page it, it would load its contents the last time I edited it--luckily I caught it and fixed it the first time I blanked out half of an RfA that way, still gave me quite a scare though. [edit] Done Update in User Contribs not working
Hi, the update button under the User Contribs tab doesn't work. After I clicked "Update," I see the hourglass/mousepointer for a second before the pointer returns to normal.
Operating system: Windows XP With service pack 2 Internet Browser: MSIE 6.0 My wikiskin is the default MonoBook I don't think I am running any tools or scripts. I am not using The Enhanced Recent Changes I ran setup.exe that after I expanded VandalProof 120.zip VandalProof leaves edit summaries after I performed rollbacks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Starionwolf (talk • contribs) 02:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC).
- It only retrieves the user's contributions that are still on-top. Try a username with a considerable number of edits on top, i.e. mine, and see if they load. AmiDaniel (talk) 02:16, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Ok, thanks for the explaination. Do I need to look at a specific page to use the update button to load contributions? --Starionwolf 18:26, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

-
- Nope, it'll just load in that list using a separate IE instance, so there's no need to navigate anywhere in the central browser. It's not particularly clear in your response: Did you figure it out, or are you still having problems? AmiDaniel (talk) 02:32, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, I know what to expect now. I do not see a new interface or window show up. I thought the update button would fill the listbox on the left. Clicking the "C" button on the upper right corner doesn't work either. The "T" button works; VandalProof loads a user's talk page in VandalProof. --Starionwolf 04:59, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Same user reversion glitch?
Hi Daniel, not sure if you did this on purpose but VP 1.2 doesn't seem to notify you if the prior edit was by the same user and give you the option of viewing all beforehand. I always liked this feature and have been stung a couple of times when it automatically reverts without that option. Just an FYI anyway, - Glen TC (Stollery) 11:04, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
// // Edit tools for the vandal whack-a-mole game // User:Kbh3rd/whackamole.js - please include this line // // Admin-like RC Patrol tools

[edit] Done Version 1.2 lock up
Since I've moved to a new machine, I decided to download the new VP version, but it locked up and got no response (my system says it's not responding in the running program list). I thought it might be because I didn't have the required files, so I removed it and installed version 1.1 which works fine. But as soon as I downloaded the new 1.2 executable and tried to run it (after putting it in the right directory) Vandalproof locked up again.
Any ideas as to the cause?
I'm using Windows 98.
-- Mgm|(talk) 20:45, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- I got this yesterday too, because there were some sudden changes to the start page that caused the whole deal to crap out on us--try it again, and tell me if you're still having problems. AmiDaniel (talk) 22:12, 21 May 2006 (UTC)
- Will try as soon as that particular machine is reattached to the internet... - Mgm|(talk) 21:14, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
- I've tried it on another machine and it seems to work now, although I still get script errors, so I redownloaded the patch from version 1.1 - Mgm|(talk) 09:05, 24 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done User notifications
I've noticed something with the latest version (1.2). When I go to notify users of an article being nominated for deletion, I received the same notice even if I uncheck my name from the list on the left. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 14:38, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Problem using v1.2
Hi, I can't seem to get v1.2 to work with regards to the rollback buttons or notification of a user's prior vandalism warnings. When I use VP all the rollback buttons are greyed out, and the little prior vandalism warnings bar tells me about the pneultimate editor to that page, not the last one. When I view a Userpage, say, the replacement template buttons (e.g. the welcome template) all seem to work fine. Any ideas? --Wisden17 18:45, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
- Have you made any recent changes to your monobook.js? Also, you are using the monobook skin, right? AmiDaniel (talk) 02:26, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done 1.2.1 zip
When's the zip of 1.2.1 going to be available? My hard drive on my prior puter crashed and I need to put VP on brand new computer, so right now I can't use VP at all. ALso, I did manage to save off my old VP stats files, I assume I can just drop them into the new VP folder...???? Rlevse 00:09, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
-
- Nope, it still says the EXE is avail, for the full install zip, it still says "currently no zip available". Rlevse 00:39, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

- See, User_talk:AmiDaniel/VP#Download, he's taken the zip off the page, there is no zip available, of any version (at least not where I'm looking). Rlevse 00:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Edit summary
Look at this edit summary:
"Reverted edits by 72.192.234.45 (talk) to version 55655393&action=edit by using VandalProof"
--GeorgeMoney T·C 01:22, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- I actually just came across this one myself. The &'s are resulting from a stacking bug that I think I've now fixed. AmiDaniel (talk) 01:30, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- The one I am reffering to is [3] --GeorgeMoney T·C 01:34, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it's the same deal. I'm guessing she's using an older browser (or maybe 7 beta) because some versions render ampersands strangely. The edit summary bug has now been fixed in the next release, but it doesn't seem to be impairing the rollback functionality, just the edit summary. Let me drop her a note and get some technical specs on what she's using. AmiDaniel (talk) 01:36, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
- Another problem with that user's IE [4] (not the edit summary, but the reversion). --GeorgeMoney T·C 04:00, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Start up "Your log-in request failed"
This keeps on happening. I do not know what I am doing wrong, I am suppose to be on the list of users, I followed the options for downloading VP. None of the options are available to me (rollbacks, recent changes "update" button, etc...). In the 1.2.0 version (before the shut down for the bug) I was also only able to put tags on user pages but not rollbacks or hit update on the recent changes. I don't know if this is a "bug" exactly, but I need some assistance because I would really like to get started using VP.--Jersey Devil 00:29, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- According to the system welcome page, you're not on the list of approved users! I'll add you now - when you get a message on your talkpage saying you're welcome, then it's fixed. This is possibly due to a mistake when we recently had the entire userlist corrupted. Thanks for reporting this. --Xyrael T 09:23, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
The "Your login request failed" still comes out. I was also, before this, told by another user that I was on the list of participants on my talk page. User talk:Jersey Devil#Welcome to VandalProof.21.--Jersey Devil 23:23, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- Attention, AmiDaniel! Sorry I couldn't help - looks like we're going to have to wait for AD to drop by. Thanks for being patient. --Xyrael T 08:40, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

- Just to chime in...I'm having the same issue as Jersey Devil. My username is on the list, and I've received the welcome message, but login fails everytime. Thanks! --Bugwit grunt / scribbles 19:02, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- This is weird, I was the one that approved you. I don't mean to insult your intelligence, but have you confirmed that you're logging on as your new account? Just to confirm, just in case. Thanks. --Xyrael T 19:09, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I'm also having the same issue. My username is on the list, but login fails everytime. My working theory is that I'm using the IE7Beta. Thoughts? Kershner 00:08, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done You may no longer use this version
I've downloaded 1.2.1, uninstalled 1.2.0, installed 1.2.1, opened IE and logged in, opened VP and I still get this message. Any suggestions? Andrew Dalby 17:47, 31 May 2006 (UTC)
- You can ignore this. It works now. Possibly the uninstall had not worked correctly the first time. Andrew Dalby 17:41, 1 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Wrong version in title bar
This is rather a silly bug, but the title bar still says "VandalProof 1.1". Also, in Help>About, "Language" is spelled "Langauge". --M1ss1ontomars2k4 (T | C | @) 01:26, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I see the language typo, but the title bar says version 1.2 for me. Prodego talk 01:30, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- I find it varies; it's safe to ignore it until AmiDaniel sorts the problem. Definately of a low priority, but thanks for noting it. --Xyrael T 16:55, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- When VP crashes, it also says "VandalProof 1.1 for the English Wikipedia has encountered a problem..." (on WinXP Pro SP2 anyway). --james(lets talk) 05:09, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done A typo
Under vandalism log, view count, the second occurence of the word vandalism is mispelled as 'vanadalism'. Cowman109Talk 22:32, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for pointing that out--I made sooo many typos in the interface it's not even funny, quite embarassing actually. I'll go fix that one. AmiDaniel (talk) 21:04, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Done Totally unable to login
Although I seem to be able to load Moderator Tools, I am totally unable to login to the application. My name is on the list, I've logged out and then in in the browser and it still gives me the error. I can see I'm logged in because the box is blue rather than yellow, as I'm using a theme which does this.
Thanks for your help. --Xyrael T 16:04, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Done Run Time Error 13 When Moderating
When I load the mod window, I get a runtime 13. This is probably because I was testing my installer, which didn't work. It always does this now. Suggestions? Computerjoe's talk 17:52, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
